Room treatment is one of those things that I occasionally think about, and even consider doing, but never actually do.
I would definitely have to go the DIY route (the commercial products are way too expensive), but I really don't know enough about it.

Making them is cheap and simple. If you treat the first two reflection points you will get a pretty good improvement.

I have zero DYI ability but even I can do this. All you need is some OC 705 or 8# mineral board, some fabric that you can easily breath through, spray glue and either some 1'' x 2'' wood or buy the Ready Acoustic frames for 34 bucks each. I used mineral board which was $34 for 6- 2'x 4' panels, we found some very nice fabric that was 75% off and the glue was $6. I have ordered the frames and they should be here on Saturday. All you do with these frames is lay down the material, put the mineral board on top, pull the fabric tight, place the frames around everything and screw in 8 screws.
Sounds good. If I only knew how.

Actually my lawyer, whose name is Fat Tony, suggested that one of those subwoofers just might be suitable compensation for my grevious loss of excluvise avatar use. Tony also mentioned that he'd like the other one for himself .

You need a picture of me tugging on some fabric to make it tight and screwing in 8 screws?;)

Here is a tutorial on framing with the RC frames.
http://www.readyacoustics.com/index.php?go=support.guides-and-manuals

Here is Andrew building is own frames.

Note that Andrew's frames go on the inside of the material and RC frames go on the outside. Before I ordered the frames I just wrapped the material around the panels and used safety pins to hold it in place so I could test them out and see if it was worth dumping more money into it.

For comparison sake, I will give you this. When I added a thousand and what ever dollar external amp the SQ may have improved by 1% or maybe no improvement except at very high volumes. When I added the $10 panels the SQ improved by 10 or 15%.

The % is just guesses but you get what I mean...

Well let me tell you about My Cousin Vinny

Uncle Tony mentioned he had a cousin Vinny in Florida. He's done some work for him before. So we might be cousins too ? Why didn't you say this before? Small world huh ;).

Don't try posting a pic of Fat Tony. He's protected. Fox will have their lawyers on you real quick.

This page contains an FBI surveillance photo of Fat Tony.
