The Vikings made a great decision not signing Captain Kirk last off season and letting Darnold go this off season. I love having a QB on his rookie deal for at least three more seasons. It was why we were able to change out the O-line to the tune of 60%, 80% if you count Darrisaw (who is top 3 best left tackles in the league) coming back from an ACL. We were definitly able to extend Darrisaw partly because of McCarthy's deal. I would venture to say that no QB in the history of the NFL than McCarthy has had more tools too succeed than him and of course a quarterback whisperer for a head coach.

I’m a little worried for Seattle with Darnold but I figure likely an upgrade over Geno Smith for a reasonable deal they can tear up next year if needed. If it goes sideways they can draft a QB early next draft. :)

I think Darnold will be fine or better. He was in the talk as MVP mid-season last year. He only fell off the table week 18 and the playoff game against the Rams. Was that 75% O'Connell? I guess we'll see, right?

The Pats looked good to start the Vrabel era. It’s only preseason but after the last couple of terrible years it was fun again and it was a great night all around in Foxboro. TB 12 always makes it special even when he isn’t playing. Can’t get enough of the GOAT. A fitting addition to the south entrance.

The approach gives the team financial flexibility and room to rebuild, and opinions are divided among the team's members: some doubt Dernold's stability, while others believe he can exceed expectations if given quality defense and a well-played OL.
Darnold's contract was not renewed. He's in Seattle now.

Does anyone have a favorite site you go to for NFL news? Pro Football Talk was my go-to for years, but now their new format just bites the big one.

Greenbay fans are waay overly excited about trading for Parsons. He is about the 5th best edge rusher in the league based on sacks and pressures. He is not a run stopper. They traded away a guy that does that for a guy that is no good at that. Teams run right at number 11 (Parsons). Look at the playoff game in January '24 Green Bay vs. Dallas. Green Bay killed em by rushing at him. So that was Aaron Jones' victory. He had 118 yards with three rushing TD's. Where is Jones now.... let's see.... Oh yeah we got him. He's a Viking! Green Bay over paid for this guy and I love it. Probably 1/3 of their salary cap goes to two guys. Btw, Love got paid because of that playoff victory over Dallas. Should have paid the OC for his game plan, not Love! Plus I heard Parsons has one sack in three losing playoff games since he was drafted by the Cowboys. Vikings OC Wes Phillips (Bum's grandson) will not lose a moment of sleep preparing for GB this year.
Here's a (related, but not entirely) prediction, our running back Jordan Mason will score more TD's on the ground this year than Aaron Jones does. Both are great running backs.

I I were the coach and other teams run right at Parsons, I would use that to my advantage.

I'm not denying that he's a great player, but I haven't seen him as a dominating game- changer since his rookie season. I hope I am not proven wrong!
