Hey Everyone,

This year in August (29th - 30th) I will be participating in the Silver | Wheaton Ride to Conquer Cancer. This is a Charity bike ride from Vancouver to Seattle that raises money for the BC Cancer Foundation. Riders are required to raise a Minimum of $2500 dollars to participate, so I am looking for donations! I don't think I need to stress the important of Cancer Research as almost everyone has had to feel the effects of the disease in one way or another.

There is a link below to my page, and I am riding with my Employers team (Team Dilawri) which has a collective goal of raising $250,000 dollars for Cancer Research.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Are you taking the easy 125 mile route or the 190 mile mountain route?

For others, a 125 mile bike ride is never easy!

I'm doing the Classic route (says 200+ kms). I have to ride to work the day after, I don't need an extra 100kms on top of that.

You know we do all the Charity rides each year. I wish you the best of luck and stay safe.

Yeah, I've seen you mention it before.

Just trying to get as many donations as possible. I'm actually detailing cars for donations as well, hopefully that will generate a fair bit of money.

No one wants to donate? Come on, it's a good cause! I understand it's hard to part with money when you don't get anything tangible in return but a warm fuzzy feeling, but any size donation is welcome!

PM me with info on how to send a donation in your name.

Edit: Never mind, I got the link to work the second time around. Enjoy the ride, best of luck raising the funds, and thanks for doing this.

I stopped by one of my old favorite bike shops as I happened to be in that city today and I inadvertently bought my wife this bike.

I think it's nicer than my Cervelo!!!!!!I am kind of pissed.

So wait, you can walk into a bike shop, drop ... what $5200 CAD or so (assuming the pricing I found is accurate) but you can't donate $10 bucks to my charity ride? Must be nice.

Correct and we make a deal, you don't ask me for money on your charity rides and I won't ask you. I do about 35 a year so this is likely a good deal for you.

The bike was marked as $5000USD but I wasn't going with stock wheels. I want to put my wheels on it and get me some that are a tad stronger since I use my race wheels as daily wheels. We are still working on that swap over. Believe me, I am paying nowhere near the marked price.

These are my wheels. Her new bike will be in the 13 lb range with them.

What are you riding? Are you taking part in the RTCC?

SheepStar
My nice bike is an SRAM Red equipped Look 586. It's a pretty sweet ride. I also have an XTR equipped Giant Trance X0 mtb, a jalopy of a fixed gear track bike, and a Shimano 105 equipped Litespeed M that I commute on. I used to race a lot back in the 80's and 90's, was pretty good at it to:D How about yourself?

I live in NM so I don't think I'll be doing the RTCC....

My Current commuter is a 2014 Giant TCX SLR 2, mostly stock at the moment as i picked it up in September. Lots of Ultegra is coming it's way when things start wearing out. Want lighter wheels too but haven't decided which yet (lots of 700C disc wheels are still coming).

My Mountain Bike is a Norco Bigfoot (2008 year) with a 5 or 6 inch Manitou Travis. 1x9 Shimano XT driveline with a 36t black spire front ring on Race Face North Shore XS cranks. Wheels are DM24s with 2.25 Intense Spikes (mud season). This used to be an RM7 but the shock was blown and the rear bushings toast. Brakes are Hayes up front (will be SLX/XT before Whistler this summer) and a Regular Shimano (M395) in the rear.

Lastly is the Trials bike, Inspried Foreplay. I just started practicing on this guy, still getting used to it and finding that trials is a long slow process. It has a 8 inch Formula in the front with an HS33 in the rear, Hope Pro 2 Trials rear hub on the 24 inch DX32, with an echo front hub and DX32, and Trial tec cranks.

35 a year.. wish I could find that many here.

Yeah some bikes manage huge discounts. One of the managers here at work has a $15,000 dollar specialaized. So this is her bike, but youère putting your wheels on it? Man, that bike is 11 lbs lighter then my Giant... Mind you, Aluminum and disks.

Fenders! I forget it rains where you are. Around here we get less than 10 inches of rain a year.

I didn't mention I have a unicycle too:cool:

I am a weird weight wennie. I mean, I am 200lbs but I have to have light bikes so I can say "I have a light bike". My Cervelo is in the 13's and my Niner Jet9 RDO is 23 lbs on the dot.

Her Alum Yeti is 24.5.

Where in NM, we have access to a cabin in Ruidoso so we are going start riding there some.

I can't wait to get those off. In stock trim a medium TCX SLR 2 is 20 pounds, I ride a small. With new rubber, chain, rotors, cassette, and possible cranks I want to get it down to that again (and fender removal for summer). With the 35c bonty's and fenders I'm jsut under 25lbs. My trials bike is 25lbs and the mountain bike is 37lbs. Weight is not a concern for that one.
