Oh here we go. Pyrrho, you're an expert at picking apart posts. Clap, clap. But it really seems it is you who is the expert at reading between the lines and not seeing something for just what is. But, this is not the place nor the thread for an discussion on whether women object to a pretty picture. (BTW objectifying in this context would hardly be. As the picture is a press picture, for the purpose of being displayed. It is hard to objectify those who make themselves an object. Remember that. She posed for the picture to be used specifically for objectifying purposes.)

The purpose of the pic here is nothing more than to evoke the gear pr0n desire that many of us lust for (as well as Olivia being a "Hot Pick", which is the title of the article, correct?). That half, not being quantifiable, comes from the idea that you wouldn't buy an A/V receiver for surround sound processing alone. Because.. well, its an A/V receiver. The V stands for video. V-I-D-E-O. It is the cornerstone of an A/V suite, and yes that is half of what we buy AV receivers for. But you are upset, and I can see that, so rather than go through senseless polls and documentation, why not, well, just not come here anymore? You don't have to come here, and I think Gene has made it clear hes not removing the picture. And since I've yet to see anyone else complain about the picture, I don't, as I can imagine many other members, see it being bad.

If you look again, you may notice that my comment was not directed at you including such a picture, but was in response to the suggestion that such pictures be a regular feature of this site. But since you bring it up, I do not think it is a good idea even occasionally have such pictures. And however funny she may be, the picture itself does not convey an admiration for her humor. At best, it is irrelevant to the subject matter of this site, though mere irrelevancy need not be a problem. It is something that is likely to put off women from being interested in reading the materials at this site. I don't think that is what you really want.
really? ok. wow.

I am glad about that, too. I have been very happy with the Yamaha receivers I have owned, and would like to see them keeping me interested in their products (or I would end up with Denon or Marantz next time around, unless they, too, slipped). The Yamaha RX-V667 looks like a very good unit at that price point.

Agreed. I've only owned one Yamaha, the RX-V1800 I own now and I'm very happy with it. Yamaha has always walked to its own beat such as YPAO, etc and it does a commendable job. I hope they continue to go the route of stout amplfiers and power supplies and offer only the essentials required for Home Theater. There build quality has always been tops with very few problems.

OK guys lets keep this thread on topic. I sent a PM to Olivia Munn via facebook to see if I could get her to pose with some A/V receivers in more conservative attire but I'm not holding my breath for a response

I would love to see a review of the Yamaha Rx-A3000 and the Denon 4311ci going head to head. I love my Yamaha RX-V1 but it is getting time for a feature update and on paper the Denon seems to be edging it out. Really like to see a compare of the Audessy to the YPAO.

How about it Gene,
a head to head yamaha 3000 vs denon 4311 vs onkyo 5008?
It would be some interesting reading.

I've owned a couple of Yamaha receivers prior to the RX-v1800 I'm currently running. The one gripe that I have had is the inability to run BOTH presence and Back surrounds at the same time. At least the A3000 will finally let us power up the extra 2 channels via an external amplifier. I must say that the Denon's on paper specs look pretty good. If it is as good as they say it is, my next receiver may just be a Denon.

There are other sites for that sort of thing. If people want more women to show an interest in audio/video gear, having such pictures is not going to help, as it sends a very clear sort of message of what the attitude toward women is at the site.
+1

(totally agree)

Does it not make sense to carry some of the best receivers in their respective price brackets? Nobody forces anybody to shop at the audioholics store.
No kidding. While it is a tricky balance I feel Audioholics usually does it well. One has to remember that the forums and reviews did not spawn of a internet retail store, the store came second. Also keep in mind that Audioholics store has an excellent reputation.

Tell me this is not a coincidence!!! Audioholics happens to sell all the hottest receivers in the market. You guys turning into to a Crutchfield.
Why not bash an E-tailer that rips people off on a regular basis instead of fuming about nothing. Also, what's wrong with Crutchfield?
