2 subs in a small space

Here's a shot of my listening area. There's a sub below the window on the far left of photo, (the large black mass next to coffee table is junk to be thrown out, the sub is to the left of that junk) and another sub along same wall as TV, below a window on right side of photo. Also a diagram of the apartment, the bedroom area is partitioned from the main listening / viewing area with a bookcase and racks of DVD's. Should both subs be along the same wall as the TV / AVR gear, or along the perpendicular walls?

From the Harman white paper:

If cost and aesthetics are considered, subwoofers at 2 wall midpoints is preferred

I don't have any mic or other measurement gear, what else is needed besides REW?
To use the room simulator just need the REW software on your computer....but if you are asking what would constitute measurement gear with REW, a usb measurement mic like the miniDSP Umik-1 or the Dayton UMM-6 would be needed (and a laptop if your computer isn't in the same room I suppose).

I believe you can technically use any microphone with REW that will provide an input signal but the resulting readings may lack accuracy without a calibration file that would accompany most USB mics.

If you are just comparing the response from spot to spot though, the actual dB levels may not be of importance.
