Hello everyone; Currently planning to build up to date home theater. Processors choices are the CX-A5200, Marantz 8805, or Denon 8500. None of these have a tape loop. Not willing to live without decades of open reel, cassette, dat, minidisc, or dcc collection I have a question.

I have a choice of preamplifiers that I have used over the years. Can I connect my decks to tape loops on an older preamp and output to one of these processors through the front inputs of the 7.1 input? Also, how would i control the volume of such a set up?

I think if not able to incorporate the decks I would probably stay with regular 7.1. Any help with my question would be welcome.

Are you recording? If not, you don’t need a tape loop.

I know how it may sound, but I do love dbx encoded cassettes. So a dbx 400 and 224 will be in the loop.
