2 5.1 Sources, 1 Receiver input?

Just curious, now that all the cool people are adding HD DVD players to their setups with SACD and DVD-A already there, what are people using to connect 2 or more sources with 5.1 outputs to a receiver with only one set of 5.1 inputs?

There are switch boxes that can be purchased (you could use three two-channel stereo boxes if that is all you could find), and the higher end receivers for the past couple of years have more than one 5.1 analog input (one of which is at least a 7.1 input).

Also, the high end SACD and DVD-A players can use a special digital connection, and the high end receivers (of the same brand) can accept this, so only one 5.1 analog connection is needed in such cases.

Really, I think this is not likely to be a problem for most people, as SACD and DVD-A have not caught on much.

It is a problem for me :) I already have an SACD player AND a universal player, so adding an HD-DVD or Blu-ray player isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Nothing in the normal consumer range is going to have very many 5.1 analog inputs, so options I see are; buy something commercial, use some digital inputs, buy a "really" nice DAC type box and use all digital inputs, get a 5.1 switcher.

Getting one really nice DAC makes sense to me, but switches can be made pretty benign too.
