Im trying to figure out where I would put the 2nd sub right now haha, I still like those Aperion 6Bs...they are so pretty and everyone says good things about them.
Yup Aperion makes some great speakers. I wouldn't trade my 4b's for anything.

tough decision on the Aperions, wood or black gloss?

As for the subs when I get home I'll see what kind of space i can utilize.

They look great in both finishes. I'd go with the wood myself.

Yeah as Phillip says it depends on your decor....most of us would be bound by the very important WAF factor....I would think the 30 day money back would apply if you didn't like the finish of the speakers as well....so I'm sure you could trade them out at no expense.....they have excellent customer service so just ask.

The VTF2's just went on sale for 509, after shipping that is just under $570 apiece. I'd jump on that myself if I didn't already have a bunch of Hsu subs! By the way, are the EMP's that power hungry? 150 wpc seems like that would be excessive.
There is almost no such thing as "too much" only "enough" since you aren't using ALL of the available power constantly :) Having that power means there is no strain when a lot of oomph is needed though, aka: effortless.

My mains are 4 Ohm bookshelf speakers and I am providing 300W each to them :)

As for color, it is a tough call, but black goes with everything. The only thing to note about piano gloss finish is the same as with a dark colored car - dust will show very easily.

Haha well I am not bound by the wife, since I don't have one :p. Just that wood looks so nice, but doesn't go with anything else. It just has a sense of thats a real nice speaker with the wood finish.

Again I can't thank you guys enough for helping me out, still trying to decide on the Subs, I'll do some more looking around tonight and measuring, maybe it would help if I were to show the area where I'll be putting these, though it is incredibly messy right now.

Will clean up the area so its will be easier to see where things will fit, then I'll post some pics, but I am pretty set on ordering those Aperion 6Bs, so probably do that tonight, along with the Onkyo 708 and later down the road I might get an amp to in case I am having some issues running the 6Bs. The Onkyo 808 is just $70 more on amazon, recommend doing that? Or another receiver in that range, roughly $700.

I have a sort of n00b question, if I go with 2 subs, how do I connect both of them? I think there are 2 ports on the back of those 2 receivers, was just wondering.

If you can afford it get the 808. Don't worry about the 2 subs, there are several ways to connect 2 of them all of which are very easy and simple to do.

Yah I'll get 808 then, more wattage to the speakers, might not need amp as badly then, we shall see!

Thank you

It looks like you are set on the Aperion speakers! I don't want to sound like I am trying to talk you out of buying those, but there is a couple things you should know about power handling with respect to speakers before you make that purchase. Check this article out, it explains it pretty well. What it partly means is the loudness difference between the Onkyo 708 and 808 will be negligable. Even if you had them driven by a two hundred watt amplifier (the max the speakers are rated for), it still wouldn't make that big of a difference from the 708, at least with respect to SPL. Here is a speaker peak SPL calculator to understand where your speakers will get you. For 110 watts (the onkyo TX-sr708), the Aperion 6B's will get to 100 db at 6 feet. That's pretty loud, if it were a continuous sound, but not really loud for peaks. For what you want to accomplish, the peaks are what is relevant. To give you some perspective, I often crank my electronic music louder then that, but I do not go clubbing because most clubs are painfully loud to me.

Here is something else to consider, your desired Onkyo's were measured for 110 watts x two channels, not five channels. When you add more speakers, that power really drops, so eventually you will not even get 100 db. Also keep in mind that you will want to keep to Aperion for the front stage speakers to have them timbre matched, and their center channel speaker is a bit pricey.

Like I said, I don't want to discourage you from getting those if they are what you want, I just want you to know what you are getting. The reason why their sensitivity is so low, as it was explained to me by a Aperion rep, is for the low frequency extension, but since you are getting subwoofers to handle those low frequencies, that factor becomes irrelevant. Honestly, I think they would be good speakers, but if it were me though, for dubstep I would look for speakers with a sensitivity rating better than 90 db. But, of course, everyone's tastes are different, what might be too loud for some isn't loud enough for others. I think you should try them out, just remember to test them to see if they can get to the loudness you want before the 30 day return policy is up.

Hmm, well wanna help me find some others to look at? That taught me a lot, thank you.

I won't be that far away from them, if im sitting infront of the tv around 6 feet, at the computer then like 8-10

Thank you!

There are lots of good speakers, those particular ones just have unusually low sensitivity. I think they would be very good otherwise. You might look at the Infinity Primus speakers, Ascend Acoustics CBM-170's or CMT-340's, Hsu Research HB-1's, for starters. Those are all highly regarded speakers and not too expensive, plus they can have fairly good efficiency. There are a lot others, PSB, NHT, Yamaha, Paradigm, Klipsch, just browse around a bit, and see if there are any audio dealers near you which carry these brands so you can listen to them.

I did the deed, CMT 340s, now I think im going VTF3....then get a 2nd one in a bit if I feel I need more bass.

in the room right the left there is a nice 92 inch screen and some paradigms :)
