You are right. They are not too bad. I do enjoy these speakers. I was just expecting something else.
I learned my lesson - listen before you buy

I now know what $150 CAD can buy. I need to listen to $500, $1000 and max $1500.
To see where is my sweet spot.
A few years ago, my audiophile friend wanted to upgrade his speakers. We went to the only audiophile store in town. I remember listening to an entry level, mid range and high end B&Ws.
The entry level wasn't such a big upgrade from what he already had. I didn't feel like it was worth spending $500/speaker.
But when they hooked up the mid ranges (currently I believe it's the CM ceries), I was floored. I couldn't believe that a pair of bookshelf speakers could have such a presence. The detail, the bass, ... a pair was about $1,500.
The higher end $5,000+ didn't impress me so much. Maybe the price didn't even let me properly appreciate them. Yes better, but by how much 5%, 10%.
Consequently, I believe I will be very happy with a speaker that will match a mid level B&W.
Energy V-5.1 maybe? An AA equivalent @ $500 price point that plays like $1,500

?
Price actually doesn't matter. I just want to find something that makes me happy and I can afford
