I hate to be the one to come and ask a similar question to one asked thousands of times before. But I have some specific criteria, and already have some ideas. I just wanted to see where others opinions lied. In short I am looking for a budget 2.1 setup (or 2.0 but the speakers can't be to big) for under $500, preferably more like $400. I already have many headphones, speakers turntables, etc. This setup is for a very small office at work. Maybe 4'x6', being generous. I am looking for small compact desk speakers, something like Audioengine A2+. Preferably powered as to not have to buy an amp too. Then a more compact, flatter, down-firing subwoofer. Maybe only 7 or 8" max off the ground, but could be over a foot square. Would be used for music, exclusively. I do like a flat response, but also like a bit of extra bass. But the small room will take care of that. Looking to achieve at least down to 30hz.
So If you all had $300-$500 to spend on mentioned system. What would you buy?
