Very nice. That's the last peice to the puzzle. Strange no one has it advertised yet.

I did see the DV62si bookshelves are also available in oak.

I was just browsing the web and saw a post on another ht forum about acoustech releasing a new bookshelf this march. I just called a dealer and asked if he had any pics. Can't remember which one, but it was probably the first one that came up on google. He emailed the pic to me. I deleted the email but saved the pic. Call one of the dealers, they may be able to email a pic as well and provide more info.

I wonder if you can wall mount that? Any ideas? I can't read all the specs on that photo you provided.

Th packaging states "rave reviews" but I haven't been able to find any on the HT-64. Has anyone seen any?

Also, how would this compare to the Acoustech HT-63 for use as rear channels?

I think the "Rave Reviews" are all quotes from the one rave review that they got for the original 5.1 set early on in Audiophile Audition ;)

It looks like they use the same drivers as all of the others, so it's really just an issue of whether you want the wall mounting and more diffuse sound of the HT63s, or a standard bookshelf / more directional sound of the HT64. I suppose if you wanted to do a lot of multi-channel music then the bookshelves would be a good choice for the surrounds. I use my setup almost exclusively for movies and my room is well suited to wall mounting the surrounds, so I'd likely have gone with the 63s anyway.

I know alot of people like BIC, and I will probly be flamed for this, but I can't stand them.

On their website, they have a bucnh of quotes from "reviews", but if you actually need the ONLY review, all the quotes are from the same paragraph.

They compared the BIC's to Klipsch equivilents, and I couldn't believe what I was reading. Some how the EXTREMELY light BIC sounded just as good as Klipsch speakers with double the weight.

Give'me a break.

You know, I am a bit of a fan of their stuff, but agree with what you are saying. The website is very 80's, no updates in forever. When you call, you talk to nice people. Unfortunately, they sound like the equivalent of Walmart employeees in terms of knowledge. This may be a way to cut overhead, who knows?
I am also suspicious that there is only one professional review on these. It is encouraging that some of our well regarded members have tried them out and had positive things to say. I have no dealers in my area or I would take a long listen.
I would maybe go the BIC DV series route, as they have MANY positive reviews, especially where Ed Frias is concerned.

Well I'm biased, but I love these speakers, that review they have is a joke and their website could have been made by a highschooler, but I have absolutely no complaints with the speakers. I like the sound of the horn tweeter and was considering some Klipsch Reference speakers, but they seemed "shrill" to me. So I ordered the Bics to try them out, and they sound great with no harsh highs at all.

I'm assuming it's probably rear ported - unlike the towers which were front ported. The release of this speaker is actually pretty good news. Based on how good the towers performed, I'd expect similar results from these bookshelf versions. Plus, I guess I'd expect to see the price down at about $150 a pair (guestimate on my end). :)

I have BIC Acoustech mains + center so I'll chime in here. First every "review" of the speaker is total crap. Don't read it, don't quote it, pay it no attention. I can tell you from my use of these speakers that the main review they quote for the speaker is total junk. The "reviewer" makes so many pointless remarks and keeps quoting the great bass out of the towers. I can assure you that bass out of the towers is nonexistence. It sucks. It's no biggee though because with a sub you'll have no problems.

The reviews they quote on the box for the Acoustec's are actually related to their older speakers too, not the Acoustechs.

Their website is total junk as well. They still quote a gmail email address last time I checked. Very shady.

That being said, the speaker's are actually pretty good. I'm satisfied with my purchase, although somewhat disappointed. They seem to handle strings and cymbols and similar instruments exceptionally well. Better than I expected actually.

My beef with them is mainly for HT use. I bought them (without hearing them) with the understanding that they were great for HT but only good for music. I think they're poor with HT and good for music.

They just don't seem to handle vocals well at all. I've never been listening to a dvd or HDTV and felt like the person speaking was actually a person. It always sounds like a mechanical representation of a human voice (which it is).

But, for the price I'd say they're definitely NOT a rip-off. Are they best speakers available for the price? Probably not but I have no idea since I've only heard a couple speakers in this range.

I plan on keeping mine for a few years and eventually upgrading to some Ascend's or something similar.

FYI, I run 2 towers and the center via an HTPC w/a JVC receiver and Wharfedale rears and a Mirage Omni S12 sub.
