Got my XPA-5 last week and hooked it up to my Yamaha 1800. Since this is my first amp I have a question. Are there any settings I need to change in the Yammy since I only have the surrounds back L/R hooked to the Yammy and the F/L, F/R, C and surrounds hooked to the XPA. One more thing what is the definition of a pre/pro?

I would thnk you would have to redo all your speaker calibrations.

Just curious as to why you're only using 3 of the amps 5 channels?

But no, there is nothing you need to change in the receiver. Just hook the amp up via the receivers pre-outs and you're good to go. Yes, you will probably need to adjust the levels of your speakers.

He is running 7.1, the surround "BACK" channels are being powered by the receiver and the "SURROUNDS" are powered by the Emotiva, so all channels on the amplifier are being used.

Zephaholic, I would redo your settings or maybe just adjust the surround back levels, as they may be off a tad (the output level might be too low or too high). The subwoofer might also need to be leveled up or down.
