AV123 Strata

Also check out the Onix Strata Mini's from AV123 for <$2k. They would be excellent for 2 channels and good for HT. Get the Ref 100 for a tonal matching center channel.

If the only problem with the current speakers is the power requriments, then a 3-5 channel amp might be a good upgrade option. Emotiva has a few models for about $1k.

Not only do they look nice. But they sound awesome. I highly recommend them for a 2 channel rig.

And will absolutely blow away the Def Tech Mythos One speakers.

Short term decision made

Well, I had no idea when I started this thread, and started looking at all the options, that I would be faced with so many choices!!! It has become so overwhelming, that I have decided to just get something that works for now, so I can take my time to find the speakers I really want.

I plan to take maybe 3 months or more, to research, and go to as many stores as I can to see what I like.

So to get me through those 3 months...I went ahead and bought two infinity TSS4000 satelites to go with my TSS4000 center channel and my Infinity ES250 rear speakers (and two M&K V125 subs) MSRP on the TSS4000 sats is $499, but I got them for $260 apiece...shipped. And I think they will be very adequate for a while. When I find the mains I really like, I will migrate these to the bedroom.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and opinions! Keep adding your ideas to this thread, so I can refer back and anyone else looking may use the information here. ;)

I would suggest looking at the Dali Ikon line, or, for a little more dough, the Mentor line. You suggested that crystal clear highs are a big deal for you-with a hybrid tweeter setup consisting of a soft dome and a ribbon tweeter, these have that. I have the Ikon 6's right now and they are pretty amazing. Life-like sound is the best way to describe them and imaging is very, very good. Stereophile has a good review of them with measurements (sorry, no link). The mentor's look the same almost but have slightly upgrade parts. They are available in black as well. Just a thought!

I echo the Salk song tower suggestion. I know two people who have them and I don't think you can do better at that price for sound or looks. I would not recommend the Thiel's which were unimpressive when I heard the next model up or the next model up revel as well. Salk prices going up soon I hear.
