Rented this one and watched it tonight. Pretty good. Seems like there havent been many good movies coming out on dvd lately so this was refreshing. I was almost really dissapointed at what I thought was perhaps an ending, But then they made up for it in the real ending. :D

As far as this type of movie goes, I thought 1408 was superb!! I was hooked early, and was on the edge of my seat until the very end.

5 stars

I loved it!

Then, it is best for a rental; it has pause for important interruptions. :D

Wow. I guess you guys are easily scared or pleased. I thought the acting by Cusack and Jackson was good, but it wasn't scary at all. Makes me wanna read the story though.

Same thoughts. Ok move, nothing big for me.

The book is a definite must read. I could not put it down and finished it in 4 weekdays.

I liked it. A decent rental, but not like a top 10 movie or anything.

No, not scared just wondered about the story line and if it is worth the time and brain power. Looks like it might be.:D

I guess I'd give it a, "Meh. If you've got nothing else to do, give it a shot."

I agree. I was expecting a bit more, but it was still pretty good, but I don't think it lived up to the hype.

I will watch it at some point. SK adaptations range from outstanding (The Green Mile) to suuuuuck (Dreamcatcher.) It wil be interesting to see where this one falls on that scale.

Funny. Those are the same 2 movies I think of when I think of King movies. I remember cringing while reading the electrocution scene in Green Mile, and the film captured the horrific nature of that event perfectly.

I really liked 1408. It was different from most slice and dice horror flicks, as a mainly interior story not observable by others. I though John Cusack was excellent as the only extended performer in the movie. The movie kept disjointing me with all of the false ends to the haunting. The movie even had a "portal" in the tradition of Dracula ("enter freely of your own will...") when Mike Eslin goes over the bridge into the first haunted hotel he visits. Once he crosses that bridge, nothing's going to be right until the journey ends.
