+1 to the advice of both Alex and Shock.

Hell, when I was 14, I had some old clunkity tape cassette ghetto blaster.

yeah i agree with you on the centre being low but im worried about putting the amp into a slightly enclosed gap as the vents are at the top of the amp and as you would all know it gets pretty hot besides im not going to keep that cabinet if you could even call it that it just really doesnt go so im thinking that i will be buying an av rack that way the amp can still be on top so ventilation wouldnt be a problem and i can then put the centre on the shelf below where i put the amp which would put the height up quite a bit
Thanks for the suggestion
Amp's heat is easily fixable with a fan or two, which you probably don't even need. The greatly compromised acoustical issues with the center that low is a different story altogether, especially placed in that cabinet to boot. Switch em. FOR SURE. You might even want a little riser/stand to get the center's tweeter on the same plane as that of the tower's.

Oh yeah, yet another +1 to somebody else: move towers out. In fact, see what having the 3 speakers exactly equidistant from you might do.

never mind think i figured out that the ps3 does the decodiing & sends it to the amp using multi channel in and that this is exactly the same soound as dolby true hd its just the ps3 is doing the decoding therefore the amps true hd light wont be lit up because its not doing the decoding . does this sound right?
Yes, right.

also my mates asked me to post something for him on thsi forum and is looking for some help on this issue
he owns a denon 3808 and just recently its been shutting off when pushing it to high levels -10db and louder so i thought his amp was just overheating and triggering the auto setup saving the amp from any damage (he had the amp with not much ventilation the sides or top of the amp anyway so we took the amp out of the cabinet and now it has plenty of ventilation area but its still shutting off at high levels, so im asking do you think damage has already been done (also its not that the speakers are inefficient because his been listening at loud levels with this amp for a fair while now and the problem only really started about 3 weeks ago)
thanks for any help in advance
One time, he's most likely fine, but if he keeps doing it, then you're asking for trouble. -10 from reference is not exactly quiet by any means, and depending on the load the speakers demand, xover, distances from speakers, etc . . . if he likes it loud, even just adding an affordable 2ch amp might relieve the receiver from quite a bit of the load . . .

but +1 to Phil, look for ANY stray wire strand both at the receiver and EVERY speaker.

Nice setup dude. The speakers will last you for years. Only one thing to add! A projector. CL that tv and get a real picture! Lol j/k

The nice thing is that your interest can propel you into an engineering career. Make sure you work hard in your math and science classes. And your others too.

I think I would encourage this from my kids. The learning experience alone would be great. Plus an interest in electronics means they will get a real job!

If you can find them for a reasonable price and your receiver will take them I find banana plugs are a good way to clean up wiring issues. You can get screw types for around 10 bucks for a pair of 7.

Did u ever spread the mains out a bit more and maybe move the sub between your component stand and the right main Im surely no expert but I see that alot in other setups but Im sure your happy with your setup its super.I remember mine at 14 not quite so nice but worked well for me 27" magnavox w/remote wow! harmon kardon hk350i/Bic turntable/realistic dual cassette/pair of Advent Ones and a smaller pair of fischers for the rears I can still rember spinning some vintage Jethro Tull....
hey just letting you know i moved my mains out and put the sub where you said bass sounds better to me now thanks :)

The PS3 is 24p capable, AFAIK. BTW, I believe most bd35s are sold out. New lineup should be out in the near future, with some bonus features.

BTW, I still vote for center tower. ;)

Anywhere else. You can even take the existing furniture, and move it. If it takes too much space, buy any sort of vertical rack. I might recommend what I use, studio tech modular. Nice that you can use different sized posts, and add more shelving whenever needed. i actually bought two, and made one small one, and one tall one. The first for the stereo, the second for the HT.

Add URC RF-20 remote + blaster, $80 shipped, and you can actually hide your equipment anywhere. Even the closet. Midcow2 and strube just bought one on my rec.

Monoprice HDMI cable is super affordable. Even a 35ft is about $40.
