Hello AV experts. I originally asked this question in a car audio forum but after not getting a reply for two days I thought I would try here. I have setup a new car audio system with an 800W amp and 1000W speakers. Since my budget is a bit tight my friend helped out and gave me some 14 gauge wire for the speakers. I want to find out if this will be suitable with an 800W amp and 1000W speakers? I found a couple of charts online which seemed to contradict each other so thought I would ask the experts. Thanks!

Speakers don't have a wattage, that's the amount of power it will take to fry them, not drive them, so you can ignore that rating. For the length of runs you're likely to see in a car, 14AWG is probably fine even with 4 Ohm drivers.

The table shows even with 2 Ohm drivers, 20ft will be acceptable and that's about as long as you'll see in a car for speakers.
