Hello all,

I'm back with another DIY question. My receiver has a 12v trigger and I'd like to know if you have any suggestions on how I can use that to turn my sub amp on and off? The amp has a 3 pin phoenix port on the back, where if you connect two pins it will put the amp into sleep mode, disconnect those two pins and it will turn itself on.

I was wondering if I might be able to put a relay in between the 12v trigger and phoenix port so that when the receiver turns on it energizes the relay which opens the connection on the amp to turn it on? I know that the 12v trigger has a max output of 150 mA.

Thanks!

Sure the relay will work. Just make sure it’s the “normally closed” variety.

I see nothing that says it’s normally closed.
