The NuVision was returned! And switched out for the aforementioned Panasonic...and...after more listening, my dad decided that he liked the Veritas most.

And his Maserati Quattroporte does fine for now.

I have to say, I was feeling pretty bad about myself for mouthing off the way that I did. I can't say that I don't still think I was correct in regards to the NuVision vs. the Panny VT30, but I said it in a disrespectful way and I'd like to apologize for that. I was feeling ashamed, so I avoided this thread for a long while :(

But the good news is that there's around $8000 back in the budget where it should be and now it can go towards some really nice gear!

I wouldn't have any qualms about the Energy Veritas speakers. Especially if there's still some value placed on getting very good performance that is well suited to that room size for non-ridiculous prices. If we think back to the original budget, the Energy Veritas speakers make a lot of sense and I can back that choice, no problem!

Given the time that's passed, everything's probably bought and installed by now. Again, I would like to apologize for my choice of words. My intention was correct, but I went about it in an immature way. I am glad though, that despite my poor judgement, the outcome was good! A much better TV - same size, but more features and performance! And a whole whack of cash back in the budget!

My bad on the way I said it. But good on the OP's father for being able to see past my classlessness to the message underneath and taking the right steps to make things as they should be.

Happy with the outcome :)

I really thank all of you out there who have put time and effort helping me. I value all of your opinions. Now, for the end product: Panasonic 65 inch VT30, 2 Veritas 6.3 floorstanders, a Veritas 5.2 center, 2 Veritas Mini surrounds, 2 Epik Empires, a Pro-ject Xperience Classic, a Pro-ject Tube Box SE II, a Marantz SR6006, Playstation 3 (A gift from me), and a Denon "all in one" player. Once again, thank you.

Nicey Nice!

That's a sweet set of gear. And, if I'm not mistaken, a lot closer to the original budget than where that NuVision would have landed things :p
