I have a 12 x 15 room with 7.5ft high ceilings. My speakers are 3 Usher S-520's which make up the fronts and center. Just looking for something to compliment the Ushers. I don't need overwhelming base and I'd like the sub to be as compact as possible due to space limitations.

I watch movies 70%, music 20%, games 10%.

I'd like to stay under $500.

My recommendation for that room in that price range would be the SVS PB12-NSD...although I think it's slightly above your $500 mark. If you are handy you can build a much better sub with amplification for around the same mark as the PB12 NSD and it will have much greater performance...

Just came across this deal over at vanns.com. Two of these will sound great in a room your size. I have owned both the 10" and 12" versions. Both delivered to your door would only be $500. Here is a link:

Be sure to read the user reviews. Don't be mislead by them only having 8" drivers. These little guys pack quite a punch. Hope this helps and good luck in your decision. Happy 2009!

Cheers,

Phil

Tyreal....I kind of overlooked what you said about the size constraint. You will not be able to get everything you need in your price range as Matt mentioned. If you can the size thing would be the first to let go as the SVS PB12-NSD is on the larger size but it will give you good bass response....you might even consider the smaller PB10-NSD which in your price range...

Now if you must have small, you may want to consider this which is a good deal for a Velodyne SPL-800r on Audioadvisor for $499...which is a very low price on that unit. here is the link:

This unit is small and has built in room calibration...

Please also take a look at the SVS SB12+, its a very nice sized sub, and would perform very very well in that small room, it still puts out quite well for a HT sub especially in that small of a room...

I had my sons SB12+ in my bedroom before I got the F112, and I loved the performance, it is a seriously powerful little sub. I am constantly asking him to turn it down as his room is above mine... :)
