12 gauge wire wont fit in my center speaker

I have 12 gauge wire i ran through the wall from my receiver to my center speaker. i can't get it to fit in the space on my speaker..any advice?

i have this speaker

Use a termination, like a banana plug, a spade, or a pin.

Just stick as much through as you can be sure not to let the excess touch the other terminal.

Ok, I looked at the picture on the link. I'd use spade terminations. And, yes, you can cut the wires that don't fit, but a spade is safer and neater.

aren't those black and red caps on the back of the speaker wire terminals removable? you should be able to buy banana plugs and insert them there.

No, cap should loosen and the spade goes around the circumference of the post, then you tighten the cap over the spade.

I've had trouble getting large enough spades for new-ish binding posts.

The red and black caps pop out as was mentioned to receive a banana.

You could use a 14 or 16 gauge wire stripper to trim the outer stands of your speaker wire and then it will fit through the hole. You could get 14 gage wire, even 16. You're center is probably a short run to the rec'r.

I would use banana/spade plugs in your situation. Gotta hate it when you face problems like that.

Just use a PIN connector if the speaker only has spring clip connectors.

Especially for a short run, there's zero reason you would need 12 awg wire for that speaker.
