Some of you may be taken aback by the above story, but I for one am very proud. Regarding the other thread on personal defense weapons for the home, I think this is just another great justification for the shotgun.
Well, since it's in Montana she probably won't be criminal charged but don't be surprised if we don't here about a civil suit in the next few days.

This is an "urban legend" and there doesn't seem to be any evidence to back up it up.

Raphael Resendez-Ramirez is the infamous "Railroad Killer" illegal alien / serial murderer. He eventually was captured.

Enrique Garza is a musician from Snyder, Texas whose 3 sons formed the band "Los Lonely Boys".

Patricia Harrington is an adult woman who writes children’s mystery books.

I can find no reference to David Burien.

The story has no author or news source listed. There is no date, time or address of where the incident took place. I would wager that this is an invented account. There's absolutely nothing on the web (aside from this verbatim account itself) to indicate this ever actually happened, or that anyone named Patricia Harrington ever was a champion clay-shooter anywhere. No news station, web site or paper has published this story.

Please prove me wrong by providing some verifiable facts or citations!

I'm sure the law varies from state to state but I know in FL if someone breaks into your home you are within your rights to shoot them. In any state there is always the right to self defense and although we don't know all the facts, it sure sounds like she defended her own life.

hmm, a link to a news article would be a good confirmation ...

LOL...

In the USA, it's legal to kill intruders in your own home:rolleyes:

You must live in a "Nanny State" country, because that little girl isn't liable for protecting her own life against intruders in her own home in the great US..of A. You'd have to live in a socialist country to get in trouble for shooting an intruder in your own home.

:shakes head:

This kind of story is destined to the back pages of the "drive by" media. At best... it will get a 5 second mention on the evening prime time sleaze casts. (if at all)
This is destined to be a 10th page "Buried Link Story", and you wont find many AP articles detailing this story.

The anti-gun media hates positive stories about firearms, which is why stories like these are hard to find. To them.... they aren't newsworthy.

There's no listing of this that I could find in the Montana Standard (Butte's newspaper), and the first reference I see to it says this happened in Butte, November 6, 2006 on another website (also without listing any references). Maybe we ought to forward it on to Snopes and let them find out if it happened or not...
