The HTC isn't a timbre match (even if they claim it might be be close).

Having zero feedback is also risky. I've had speakers ship damaged to me and... As you should/might know... They reimburse the seller. I never saw the money to fix it. That guy had like 200-300 positive reviews on Ebay too. You just never know. It's sad to think people are like that, but it's true.
You went about it the wrong way.

Did you pay with Paypal? You have buyer protection through both Ebay and Paypal. I have had to exercise my buyer protection a few times over the last 10 years, and it always worked out in my favor. Even one time, 30 days later and the guy claimed he was still trying to work it out with the shipper after they had collected the damaged item. I got Paypal to refund my money and then it became his problem 100%.

But, 0 feedback rating and I will not risk it.

I wish my issue was like that. I went through Paypal AND Ebay. The speakers corners were beat up, scratches, etc. One tweeter was damaged (in his pics it wasn't, but who knows if it was already like that). I filed a claim, stayed on FedEx, Paypal and the sellers *** about it. Fedex took something like 13 days to come out to view it, even though I had sent them tons of pictures. Guy comes out and says it's clearly damaged. Fedex never resolved anything, etc for a good 5-6 days (I was calling them every single day). By the time everything was about to get done it was at 28-29 days. FINALLY they paid the seller (like everyone does...no one can pay buyer b/c it's "fraudulent").

...guy never returned my e-mails. Never paypal'd me the money.

Well, I may have found someone local to build me a pair of ER-18 cabinets. I'm waiting on a quote from him. If it turns out to be reasonable, then I may get him to build the cabs and I will do the crossover and driver install. Haven't decided on how to finish cabs yet if this works out.

I still want to build the ER18's with the ribbon tweeter. I've really grown to like the way ribbons sound and have been in the "what should I buy" boat so long I just made a decision. Have to finish other projects first, but I'm really looking for to building them.

If you do get someone to build a cabinet for you, let us know what you think.
