Thanks for the tips! Would you prefer the Cambridge/Wave Crest/AAL to the HSU bookshelves?
Wave Crest is sidekick brand to extremely impressive Ascend Audio designed by same people with idea of making neutral sounding speakers, but to give up on just a bit of this neutrality for much better bass response.

Cambridge S30 are very well reviewed and established product, which was shown it could benefit from minor mods

How they compare ??? Who knows??? You gotta try them yourself. I guarantee you wont be disappointed by ether of these choices.

These AAL modified Pioneers are really intriguing me now. I see they offer a modded center--or would I be better off with another of the bookshelf speakers? It would cost me $60 more for an extra pair of L and R as opposed to the center, but I'd consider it.

EDIT: That's if I can fit a vertical speaker under my TV!

If you can fit the vertical then go vertical

If not, then the center will be fine - Dennis did a good job with it

Thanks! I've been reading the dedicated thread on these and it seems Dennis may be selling modded Pioneer towers, too. Given that I'll have a good sub, is there much reason to wait on those, or are the towers more for use without a sub?

The bookshelf with a good sub will do fine.
