    Rush Clockwork Angles

Porcupine Tree and Steve Wilson are beyond CD, their stuff is all multi channel now including Wilson's latest solo effort which was released in Blu-ray and is excellent! I can't listen to Rush anymore (at least their stuff after the late 90s), sorry Rush fans.

Cadence CSX15 Mark II Subwoofer Review

I'm not sure it's an absolute requirement by anyone. Usually a plastic cover over the amp is sufficient. I reviewed plenty of subs where the amps were not isolated (such as the Velodyne DD15+, SVS PB13-Ultra) and it worked just fine. The alleged benefits of isolating the amp are NEVER greater...

Cadence CSX15 Mark II Subwoofer Review

It's "derided" when it sacrifices box volume to make a 15" 90lb subwoofer perform no better than a midbass module. You can seriously get better output performance from a sealed 12" Emotiva below 50Hz than this!

Yamaha Aventage RX-A2020, RX-A3020 Receiver Preview

I think you're right. They figure people will stream over airplay. Has anyone compared the sound quality of streaming it wirelessly to the direct connect from ethernet to the receiver?

Actually Pandora played thru a good DAC is pretty darn good quality, especially if you pay the annual fee for the higher data rate.

Cadence CSX15 Mark II Subwoofer Review

You still seem to imply "free". Nothing is FREE. Publishing reviews is very costly for me. Not only do I have to pay our reviewers a FEE to review a product but I also have to pay other staff members to post the product review. There are no guarantees we will generate advertising revenue...

Cadence CSX15 Mark II Subwoofer Review

Let's be clear about something. We DON'T get FREE stuff. Our review samples either go back or are given away in our contests. I don't mind re-evaluating a final score 1/2pt if a manufacturer makes a good argument for it. Our subjective scorecard isn't set in stone and we are NOT that...

Cadence CSX15 Mark II Subwoofer Review

As you could imagine, its a challenge for us to keep the manufacturers sending products after they realize how in depth and critical our reviews are. I prefer getting products from everyone, not just a dozen or so really high quality brands that never fear our testing procedures b/c their...

Cadence CSX15 Mark II Subwoofer Review

Most of our readers pay more attention to the analysis and subjective impressions more than just a final score. However, I asked Josh if he felt it was OK for me to bump the overall rating to a 3.0 given the modest price and your willingness to look into future product improvements and he felt...

    Fluance XL7F Floorstanding Loudspeaker Review

The Fluance have more bass but the Infinity's have a more detailed top end. Both has pros/cons. I just finished a controlled blind test comparing the P363s and EMP E55tis and will include this in my Infinity review. Interesting results. All in all, for under $700/pr these 3 speakers...

We don't disclose our ratings to manufacturers during the peer review process. The purpose of the peer review is for you to fact check the editorial content and measurements. We stand by our assessment and our measurements show the box limitations due to the unnecessary wall dividing the amp...

Cadence CSX15 Mark II Subwoofer Review

I sent the full review to Cadence prior to publishing and they were fine with it. All the parts they used are good. They just need to hollow out that board divider between the amp and driver and tweak the limiter and it will be a class leading product in the sub $500 price bracket.

    Denon AVP-A1HDCI / POA-A1HDCI Review Support Thread

I'm happy to report the firmware update on the AVP-A1HDCI has fixed the SACD bass issue. I tested it on multi-SACD and bass was great. I tested it on 2CH SACD (left channel only as my DVD-A1UDCI seems to not want to produce audio from the right channel when playing 2CH SACD since I got it back...
