Why ship a product that limits its potential? This amp has more capability than a single 15A circuit can provide it. In those cases, just get an XPA-2. For people wanting more power and having the outlet capability, go for an XPR-2. Pretty brilliant to offer these options in an amplifier...

Most loudspeaker companies that claim to use first order crossovers never really do. We've reviewed some older Theil's in the past and i counted more poles than their brochures indicated. Been awhile so I don't remember which model it was.

actually it's not uncommon for new homes to have dedicated 20A lines installed upon request. I had 4 put into my home for such occasions ;)

Salk had a very cool switcher at our GTG event that allowed you to instantaneously switch out amps and speakers all level matched via remote. I need to get me one of those. No need for a Blind test as you can't determine which amp is playing like you could with speakers seeing the cones...

I haven't measured the impedance of the Pios yet but I suspect they aren't as easy of a load to drive as you may think. I noticed they do eat up a lot of power to play loudly. They will probably be driven just find with a good mid level A/V receiver but it's never a bad thing to have more...

A blind test for amplifiers makes no sense. You can very easily level match and switch amps with a switcher without knowing which one you are listening to. No need to do it blind. For those that think all amps sound the same, I salute them as in the long run it will save them a lot of time...

Finally a voice of reason. I am looking forward to measuring the Pioneers. They do tend to be a bit treble heavy but they aren't fatiguing. I suspect the tweeter level is set a tad high for zing effect but damn do they sound sweet for such little $$$ I don't want to taint my subjective...

Your math is just a little bit off. $986 (5 speakers + sub) is about 39% of the budget for the entire system. :rolleyes:
