Yamaha Integrated Amplifiers Quality and Affordability Unite!

The R55s are relatively easy load to drive. Save your money, get the S501 and add a sub down the road to increase bass extension below 50Hz. A small ported 10" sub will really do wonders to this system more so than a beefier amp.

Early Reflections in Home Theaters: A Different Perspective

In our recently added YouTube video we discuss room acoustics and the importance of balancing the sound in your room to get the best possible performance from your speakers. Over treating can make your listening space sound too dead and take the life out of the room. Too little treatment can...

Harman Research vs Consumer Product Development Are They Related?

No No store I know of will go for such an arrangement of loaning a brand new pair of speakers to a review magazine and then taking them back as Bstock to sell to their customers at a significantly reduced price. It's also not such a bad thing that a manufacturer thoroughly tests a product...

Harman Research vs Consumer Product Development Are They Related?

There is some cause for concern that manufacturers can cherry pick review samples. It's happened in the past. However your dillusional to think it's economically feasible for review magazines to buy products to review to elimitate the possibility of receiving golden units.

Can Good Amplifier Design Mitigate Sonic Differences Between Cables?

We uncovered an audio myth on our YouTube channel I didn’t even know was being perpetuated by some esoteric amplifier companies. Apparently there is a belief that designing an amplifier to be too stable and protected to prevent damage or fire during misuse or short circuiting will result in...

Floyd; I think we can make an exception about following a strict protocol when testing wines. What is more important is the people you share it with and the memories forged or sometimes forgotten if it was a really good night ;)

Harman Research vs Consumer Product Development Are They Related?

Excellent points! Yes they seem to primarily target the brands you mentioned. Also a speaker like an ML will not do well being placed in the middle of the room without a backwall. I also think the advantage an ESL offers is primarily heard in stereo listening which of course isn't done in...

    Power Sound Audio V3600i

Tom, as you know there is a lot of stuff in CEA2010 that needs to be changed. Both myself and others have been lobbying this for years. The latest ver of this standard is even worse in some regards and needlessly more complex and confusing. Ironically some of it is incompatible with the old...

    Power Sound Audio V3600i

No but Average SPL data is nonsense and 1 meter peak gives the illusion of A LOT more output to the uninitiated. It's no different than a receiver company rating power with 1CH driven, 1kHz at 10% THD. They are ALL starting to do that now!

Steve you should know better than to post 1m peak data. Always reference 2 meter RMS and don't include that averaging crap :) Discrete frequency data only please.
