XM Radio Sound Quality Issues?
I have been an avid XM user for the past few months since it came standard in my Acura TL. However, I have noticed voices sound very metallic at times which I suspect is an issue of excessive compression. Any other XM users out there have similar experiences?

Velodyne Minivee Subwoofer
haha LOL. Its a sad reality though they wouldn't sweat dropping $15K on a plasma display to hook up to their compressed cable signal.

Actually I still the We Cant Dance CD is excellent. No Son of Mine, Driving the Last Spike, Living Forever, Fading Lights (especially live) are awesome IMO. Though that CD does lack the fundemental Genesis sound from the late 70s.

Yamaha RX-Z9 being discontinued?
I just spoke with the marketing manager of Yamaha during the HT Cruise. There is no current replacement model for the Z9 in the immediate future. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on a replacement for at least another year. If your local dealer (assuming an authorized one) is giving such huge...

DVD Player Recommendation
Um did you read our review of this player which tested it a bit more extensively? A good score does not a good player make if the test is too easy to pass. While the Oppo is a good budget player, it has a lot of shortcomings and is by no means in the category of some of the top players...

Home Theater Cruise - Day One
The boat is doing more rocking now while I am off of it than when I was one it. I hope these dizzy spells go away soon. I went to a party tonight at my best friends house and almost fell in his pool while we were all dancing. Oddly a few drinks mixed with some of the killer RumI brought back...

Axiom M2i impressions
Which Yamaha receiver do you have? Only their flagship models such as the RX-Z1/Z9 will allow you to engage presense and back channels. it has to be a 9.1 receiver for it to work that way otherwise you will have back surrounds or presence, but not both. Such is the case with the Yamaha...

Axiom M2i impressions
The M22tis are a significant upgrade to the M2is and M3is. They have double the driver surface area in the mids which allows them to play louder and handle dynamics better. That being said they do tend to have a bit of a bit to them which really show up in poorly treated rooms. Check your...

Subwoofer lovers please read.
Corner loading is usually not the way to go if you want uniform bass response for a wide listening area. In fact, we recommend using 2 or 4 subs symmetically placed in the room relative to the listening area. We have many articles on this topic to help you out with subwoofer placement...

Oops that review hasn't gone live yet. Thanks for catching that. As for the Gift Guide early release, we will be out of the office for the next week (with limited computer access) attending the HT Cruise and wanted to get this out by Nov 1st. This gives you plenty of time to shop now ;)

TrueHD compatibility
No there are no products on the market right now that are upgradable to TrueHD via firmware change. This protocol will only transmit on HDMI ver 1.3 or higher and the interface chips for this aren't ready. What will happen is you can get the ability to do normal DD at up to 640kbps (or less...

While I am certainly no flag waiver for THX and am not the biggest fan of their post processing, and certainly not into their certification of cables and acoustic treatments, their certification on processors/receivers do ensure a few very important things: 1) Compatability with other THX gear...
