An amp with more headroom can and does improve the fidelity of sound, especially when driving music at louder listening levels. Of course if you're of the opinion that all amps sound the same, then by all means get the cheapest A/V receiver that has the features you need and use that.

Yes agreed but I believe its more than a simple THD sweep can reveal. When you hear how effortless brass instruments sound on this speaker at any listening level, its quite amazing. How the speaker loads sound into the room b/c of so much cone area has something to do with it as well.

Sadly lately I haven't listened to them at all. I've been slammed with work and holiday preparations. I spent more time this week listening to the Pioneer speakers which isn't such a bad thing at all ;)

no doubt, their website is severely lacking. The Status product isn't something you'd want to order online anyways. It's the type of product you would want to speak to the designer so he can build your pair to meet your specific requirements and possibly fly out to help you setup.

The Salon2 is a beautifully crafted excellent sounding speaker. You made a great choice and I wouldn't change it if I were you. Certainly you should NOT have any buyers remorse either.

I'd take the Andrew Jones Pioneer towers (which incidentally I am reviewing right now) over the P363s.
