Mysterious Drummer
Honestly, I don't understand Gadd anymore. He was great with Steely Dan but the last two concerts I have with him and Eric Clapton, I thought he really sucked. But then again, I wasn't too impressed with Clapton either

UK to Ban Plasmas?
This could be good only if it causes manufacturers to make more energy compliant devices to stay competitive in that market space. It would be better if it wasn't a ban as much as an incentive for manufacturers to make more energy efficient displays.

CEDIA - Got My NERDAR Engaged
Get over the fact that Sidious caused her death by changing the balance of the force towards his favor just like his master did when he created Anakin. I know I am likely giving Lucas too much credit for this type of plot depth but its the only way of logically explaining it opposed to the...

CEDIA - Got My NERDAR Engaged
The person working the breakfast area at our hotel must have had a PHD in nerdology. His famous quote of the day while I was pouring myself a bowl of apple oatmeal: After hearing that, I felt like I was pretty cool :D

Review New Yamaha's?
Actually the new Onkyo will be the first HDMI 1.3 receiver reviewed on Audioholics. That review should be coming out shortly. I am scheduled to do a Yamaha Z11 review after the Audioholics party. It seems Denon has gone silent lately around the internet but we will catch up with them to...

Hey while Clint is making fun of cross dressers, I thought everyone would like to know one year we accidentally ordered a womens Audioholics shirt in his size and he happily wore it at a trade show :D If cross dressing is good enough for Rudi Giuliani, then its good enough for all red...

Bookshelf Speaker Faceoff 2007
The M22s are more comparible (I suspect favorably) to the RBH TK 5CT's than the MC6-C's. There are a whole lot of great bookshelf speakers in this price class. So far, the best I've heard are the RBH 61-LSE's or 61-SE/Rs in terms of tonal accuracy and overall fidelity. Incidentally, their...

Hi Jim; You don't need a tux. During the day for demos it will be quite casual (slacks + polo shirt). At the night function it will be business casual (pants & nice shirt).

RBH MC-6 vs RBH 61-SE
I believe the 61-SE's are a tad higher in retail now but you have to check as they are releasing a new catalog soon. The 61-SE is still a superior speaker to the MC-6C but it has a deeper cabinet and is rear ported. If you have the space and can avoid blocking the rear port, I'd go with the...

Bookshelf Speaker Faceoff 2007
Actually above 300Hz (the transition region in small rooms), these measurements are fairly accurate since they were taken at 1 meter on axis.

Bookshelf Speaker Faceoff 2007
Having directly compared the 61-LSE (similar to SE/R but with standard crossover components) against the MC-6C's, I'd say the 61's are clearly superior to the MC-6C's in virtually every category. They have a much more open top end, better imaging and an overall more refined sound. That...

listen to JAZZ!
I forgot to include them. Their CD's are a bit watery but they absolutely rock in concert. The sad thing about Jazz is it was never properly marketed which is why it never successfully hit mainstream. We don't need another MTV Cribs channel, we need an all Jazz channel and in 5.1!

Bookshelf Speaker Faceoff 2007
I already conducted a prior face off with Monitor Audio Gold GR-10s. They did quite well and were one of my favorites in the review. I didn't think of adding Yamaha but perhaps in the next face off we will. Feel free to start a poll of speaker brands you would like to see in the next...

The same way we did it without other brands that couldn't deliver products by our deadline. Stay tuned for more faceoffs in the future.

listen to JAZZ!
I'm a huge Jazz fan, but mostly modern fusion from the likes of: Pat Metheny Larry Carlton Lee Ritenoir Tribal Tech Weather Report Special EFX IMO, the most talented musicians are Jazz musicians.
