I understand your towers may be defective. How did the bookshelf's do in comparison? Also its possible these speakers are much less efficient than your others so you need to turn the volume control up higher to achieve similar SPL levels.

Virtually all speakers can "reproduce" all the notes of a piano but very FEW speakers can accurately reproduce complex harmonic overtones of a piano regardless of price and certainly NONE that I have heard in the price range that the EMPs are selling at.

Pretty comparible until you bridge the Denon which in that situation should have a slight edge. Those old Parasound amps are sweet.
