The Yamaha RX-V2500 has the best preamp in a $1k system we have seen. It makes for a fantastic processor.

The Emotiva MPS-1 is a very good amp (currently under review) for your application. Its switching design makes it very efficient, cool running and should meet your power needs. Best of all its in your price range of $2000.

There is more to performance than just sheer power. As far as power goes, the amps in the 5805 will deliver everything a 15A wall outlet can deliver! The preamp section of the 3805 isn't in the same league as the 5805, nor is the room correction system of the former.
