    Audioquest?

Then it looks like I need to fire myself :p Even 5-7% might not be very good advice since the law of diminishing returns happen much quicker than it does with electronics and speakers. It is also difficult to know how much cabling a person would need for their application so it must be...

    Audioquest?

We never recommend spending 10% of your budget on cables. If you did find an article we wrote saying this, please let me know so I can fire the author  Beyond a certain price point (very low price point actually) you are paying for nothing more than cosmetics and marketing...

New Denon Product Announcements & Conference

Actually the amp section of the 5805 are not your run of the mill receiver amps. I would put them up against pretty much any 7CH amp in the 2-3k price range. Not only are they powerful, but more importantly have excellent signal to noise ratio, linearity, low output impedance and distortion...

New Denon Product Announcements & Conference

Yes that is a good assumption. In fact, Dolby isn't licensing DD+ this year to anyone mostly b/c of Blu-Ray/HD struggle, interface standards and lack of firmware. As for no separates, I still consider the AVR-5805 to be a separates solution in a single box, especially since they are...

New Denon Product Announcements & Conference

Couple of notes guys: 1) We should be seeing new Audyssey update firmware within a few weeks. Yes I know its taking more time than they said. However, I understand they are doing some other minor performance tweaks so I am sure it will be worth the wait. 2) No separates to market for...

    Axiom M22ti or M50ti

The M60's and M80s are a more dynamic sounding speaker than the M22's. The M60 is definately a good tower speaker and the M80 builds on it further by increasing output power handling, SPL capabilities, and a bit larger soundstage but a little more difficult load to drive than the M22 or M60s.

New Denon Product Announcements & Conference

Actually I am on a Marillion kick right now. But I may throw on some Moving Pictures on my ride home. It rained towards mid afternoon until evening so we had to limit our water activities to the indoor pool. I shot some mean hoops in the pool though. Who said white men can't jump...

    Looking to upgrade my speakers

Depending on the speakers sensitivity and impedance/phase profile, room characteristics and listening preferences, you may or may not need another amp. The RXV1400 is a great pre/pro. Your best route is to use it as such and buy an external amp to power your speakers (assuming you need one)...

    Axiom M22ti or M50ti

I would go with the M22's crossed over at 80Hz and add an EP500 or two  You will achieve better midrange performance out of the M22's.

Official Denon AVR-5805 Review Support Thread

The problem is there really are no standards established for multichannel testing yet  "All Channels Driven" is NOT a realistic test condition as we have stated many times in the past. Its a worst case test with an ideal test load that at best will demonstrate wall voltage sag...

Yes I chose the primary listening positions. In addition, since my speakers are a truncated line array, I also took measurements at varying heights from the 4 primary positions. Check out my Calibration Suggestions on Audyssey for further information.

Event-Horizon; Nice write up, hey want a job!? :p You should try the "Audyssey" EQ setting again as that should actually give you the most accurate results. Also, I suggest trying some of the measurement techniques I established in my AVR-5805 review (IE. pointing the mic at each speaker...

    Passive Bi-amping

You're not really getting 3dB of headroom since the amp isn't being bridged to double power to the entire speaker. What you are getting is two amps driving a broken up reactive speaker load which can increase system linearity since each amp is only driving a portion of the loudspeaker and the...
