Benefits to Bi Amping or Bi Wiring

If you hooked up your receiver to that outlet, it will quickly become your stove if you turn the volume up high enough and use forks as your speaker loads :D

    Bi-Amping/Wiring Revealed

As I said in my last post, some receivers have amp assignability so you can reroute them to biamp. SPK A/B are the same connection point either in series or parallel to each other from the same channels.

    Tips for a SQUARE room?

This is bad advice for someone doing home theater, especially if you are using a processor that truncates the LFE channel when setting the crossover below 80Hz. A better solution would be to place 2 small subs in the room and follow our subwoofer placement guidelines. While square rooms aren't...

    O.P.R.A. Tackles the Tough Questions

I've seen the posts from Simple Mind, I mean Simple Theater  Just goes to show you that the people who know the least amount about such topics, are often the most vocal.

    Bi-Amping/Wiring Revealed

Oh my! All you did was Biwire NOT Biamp. Speaker A/B terminals are either wired in series or parallel to the same amp. If you wish to biamp, you must use 4 amps in the receiver, many of which today allow you to reassign to the front channels for biamping.

What is even funnier is any cable can pass this test if you terminate it to its characteristic impedance

    McIntosh XLS340 Loudspeakers Review

What a load of crap and typical attitude of an audio elitist who thinks you require exotic equipment to drive a pair of speakers. If that was the case. then its more an issue with poor speaker design, NOT poor electronics. Rotel makes good amplifiers, certainly good enough to drive a wide...

Benefits to Bi Amping or Bi Wiring

No a good amp is still a necessity. We don't listen to continuous test tones and its important to realize that. An amp should have plenty of headroom to hit peaks undistorted while at the same time have a low enough output impedance to minimize frequency response variations when driving a...

Steve, Cable Gurus - Analysis Plus Question

Their literature is a load of crapola. I suggest reading this excellent article Rod Elliot authored that covers this very topic. Cable Impedance No cable will pass a high frequency squarewave properly unless it is terminated with the correct impedance at both ends, and the 'proof' that...

Benefits to Bi Amping or Bi Wiring

All; I am currently reviewing a 5CH linear Class G amp and pulled some efficiency #'s for your enjoyment. Class G amps are typically more efficient than a/b. These tests were conducted using regulation from the APC S15. Amps were testing to no more than 0.1% THD + N. Test tone was a...

Benefits to Bi Amping or Bi Wiring

Um No. Unless the amp itself has a power supply big enough to sink that much power, its not gonna work. Why do you feel you need that much power and why do you think all channels simultaneously will need it? A single 90dB SPL @ 1 watt/meter speaker playing 10 watts will generate 100dB SPL...

Benefits to Bi Amping or Bi Wiring

When doing power load estimates for home wiring, you DON"T assume all outlets are operating at full capacity just like you don't assume all channels will be driven at full capacity on a multichannel amplifier. My advice is to run a dedicated line or 2 to your home theater equipment, especially...

Benefits to Bi Amping or Bi Wiring

Theoretically Class A/B amps can be around 50% efficienct but this is usually never the case. Real world efficiencies range between 35-45% so I used a figure in the middle. The more current you pull from these amps (IE. running them in 4 ohms instead of 8, the more inefficient they become)...

Wrong again. If the 5805 was rated 170wpc all 10 channels driven, it would try to consume roughly 170*10/.4 = 4,250 watts or pull 35A from 120V line. NOT BLOODY LIKELY :D
