CEDIA 2006 Show Coverage Official Forum Thread!

Yes and they didn't want any press covering it. I spoke to their Marketing Director and he said if we covered this piece it would hurt them b/c it wont officially be released until CES and we would reduce the appeal of the product if its already old news. Go figure

    Yamaha RX-V659 Receiver Review!

huh? The HK is rated at 70wpc into 2CH where as the Yammie is rated at 100watts and I tested it to 132 watts into 8 ohms and 200watts into 4 ohms! The Yammie also weighs in about 4-5lbs heavier.

Gene's staff reference system 1 question.

Jim; Good question. I am actually using the Audyssey Pro for my 4 subwoofers only. I am still using Audyssey built into my Denon 5805. Its a bit complicated, but the combo of the 2 is quite awesome if you spend the time to tweak, and measure the results. I am still working on this...

    Denon 3806 + Audyssey = WOW

The 3805 did NOT have Audyssey and was based on a conventional PEQ implementation. The best settings for the 3806 are FLAT and Audyssey. The only difference between the 2 settings is the Audyssey mode rolls off the highs a bit to compenstate for the mixing process with most recordings...

    Bass drop out at 75-55hz

Bryan; I think your 2 sec decay times are a bit extreme and not typical in most home theater rooms. As chris has mentioned FIR base systems do frequency and time domain correction. Seat to seat variation goes down significantly when you use multiple subs. Imagine if you used a combo of...

Its not a sound room for listening. Its an anechoic chamber (totally dead room) for making accurate measurements.

    Bass drop out at 75-55hz

The problem I have with the literature on your site as well as Ethan's is you both claim active equalization can NOT resolve modal ringing. This in NOT true. PEQ will resolve modal ringing issues if the correction is benefical in the frequency domain. In addition, using multiple subs will...

    Bass drop out at 75-55hz

Bryan; I don't have the time or desire to continually rehash this topic with you and Ethan. Sadly much of the misinformation about the benefits of multiple subs and equalization to minimize modal ringing on our forums seem to come from both of your websites and related postings. I have...

    Bass drop out at 75-55hz

Placing a sub in the center of the room is the WORST place you can possibly position it. Do you mean center room front wall? When using 2 subs, its best to use subs with similar output capabilities so you don't overdrive the weaker sub which in your case would be the Paradigm. You can...
