It's interesting to me that this sub has about the exact same output capabilities of the Emotiva Ultra Sub 12. B&W seemed to really eek out a lot of performance out of a small enclosure with a 10" driver, but it certainly doesn't come cheap.

we do annual shootouts but most manufacturers don't like them. Ironically some of the manufacturers that spout the DBT mantra like 3rd party shootouts the least!

That is why you rely on competently written professional reviews as a starting point. Some manufacturers will also post interior shots of the cabinets and parts used or at least mention them in their specs page. The more data a manufacturer is willing to disclose the better a consumer can be...

Emotiva had a problematic capacitor on the amp boards of some of their first runs on the Ultra subs. My test unit failed and they replaced it and it works fine now. They are upgrading anyone's amps who have experienced failures and its very easy to swap out.

Very sad indeed and too bad he went out on a low point for Apple where they bragged about a new iPhone 5 and instead repackaged an iPhone 4 with a better camera.

We don't offer printable copies of our reviews yet but we may do that as a membership option down the road. Sometimes manufacturers purchase reprint rights to our reviews so you may find them on their websites (IE. Yamaha, Denon, etc).
