Outlaw Audio Model 975 Processor Preview

Some questions for fellow owners: Does it have OSD overlay for HDMI during simultaneous video source Does it have a true analog bypass for analog audio connections or is it digitized? Hope to review this next year to confirm and measure but please share your thoughts on its operation...

Do all amplifiers sound the same thread

Salk had a very cool switcher at our GTG event that allowed you to instantaneously switch out amps and speakers all level matched via remote. I need to get me one of those. No need for a Blind test as you can't determine which amp is playing like you could with speakers seeing the cones...

Do all amplifiers sound the same thread

I haven't measured the impedance of the Pios yet but I suspect they aren't as easy of a load to drive as you may think. I noticed they do eat up a lot of power to play loudly. They will probably be driven just find with a good mid level A/V receiver but it's never a bad thing to have more...

Do all amplifiers sound the same thread

Assuming a perfectly resistive speaker load, low noise, low output impedance and the amplifier can maintain sufficient output voltage without power supply lag, then its very conceivable the sonic differences between two amps will be indistinguishable. Lots and LOTS of caveats for this to be the...

A blind test for amplifiers makes no sense. You can very easily level match and switch amps with a switcher without knowing which one you are listening to. No need to do it blind. For those that think all amps sound the same, I salute them as in the long run it will save them a lot of time...

I have noted these problems in Pioneer ICE receivers and got flogged for it. Only years later were my findings vindicated by Pioneer engineers and people in the field giving me stories on how Pioneer ICE amps were unable to adequately drive 4 ohm speakers despite the print magazines boasted...

We offered good non Class D amp receiver alternatives to the Emotiva Separates. You really need to move on. Your opinion has been stated many times and I'm tired of hearing it. IF you want to suggest alternative $2500 systems do it in another thread. You're also welcome to start your own...

Finally a voice of reason. I am looking forward to measuring the Pioneers. They do tend to be a bit treble heavy but they aren't fatiguing. I suspect the tweeter level is set a tad high for zing effect but damn do they sound sweet for such little $$$ I don't want to taint my subjective...

Your math is just a little bit off. $986 (5 speakers + sub) is about 39% of the budget for the entire system.

I beg to differ. Even at below driving amplifiers to their limits, amplifiers can and do perform differently and it does translate to sound differences to. We've run many fun experiments in the past here using a Panasonic Class D receiver and a Marantz linear amp and at low power levels people...

An amp with more headroom can and does improve the fidelity of sound, especially when driving music at louder listening levels. Of course if you're of the opinion that all amps sound the same, then by all means get the cheapest A/V receiver that has the features you need and use that.

This is a prime example of offering poor advice not based on any personal experience with the equipment in the recommended list. It's easy to sit behind a chair and criticize but it takes far more effort to integrate and test systems which in this case is exactly what we've done. The Pioneer...
