Audiophile Software Roundup: The Case For And A Comparison Of HiFi Software

Tough crowd. I think this article has good merit to compare the various types of software offered. Kinda new ground for us since we rarely broach this topic. The sound quality ratings are purely subjective based on user experience so if you don't agree with it that's fine too. The square...

Do Loudspeaker Manufacturers Really Make Their Own Drivers?

Actually most of the best transducers in the world are designed by Driver Manufacturers not producers of end products. It's knowing how to integrate them properly into an end product that really matters most.

You have a talent for misapplying and misunderstanding research. Recall when Dr. Floyd Toole had to come here and correct you for your misunderstandings of his research that you kept quoting. Nobody is saying to brace and cabinet and use no damping. The proper balance of both must be used to...

Thin wall, heavy damping has merit for budget designs but there is NEVER a downside to increasing cabinet stiffness if the bracing is done correctly. You can see the FEA results that David Waratuke ran. FYI, David has a Masters Degree in Structural Engineering and designs Skyscrapers for a...

EMP E55Ti Towers and E55Wi Surround Speakers Demo Set: $650 Shipped for Whole System!

My brother-in-law bought a pair of black EMP E55ti Towers and E55Wi Surround speakers at the last Audioholics GTG Event. They are in mint condition and he still has the original boxes. He is selling the set because he can't take them with him at College. He is asking $650 shipped (USA...

    The absence of negative reviews

We have plenty of negative reviews of speakers if you search our database. The problem with negative reviews however is they not only offend manufacturers, but owners of the products too. It's a tight balancing act to make everyone happy, one we've had to learn the hard way over the years.

    Bryston Model T Floorstanding Speakers

It's kinda of mind boggling how much there is to speaker design, particularly driver mechanics. Things often seem simple on the surface but generally much more complex as you dig deeper. Tweeter design is very tricky which is why most loudspeaker companies don't make their own. They rely on...

Yea I'm not sure if Axiom owns the factory or not but you can certainly ask them. an excerpt from our article publishing next week that is relevant to this discussion: <!--[if gte mso 9]><![endif]--> on the flip side, it's very possible the Dayton is a sort of copy cat design. Either way the...

Axiom tweeter impedance Not sure so i pulled the tweeter out of my other M3v2 on-wall and measured to compare. There does seem to be some differences in resonance which I can only guess has to do with the amount of ferro-fluid used in both samples? I didn't see this variation when I...

Twweters measured in am M3v2 on-wall I measured the stock Axiom tweeter and Dayton tweeter when integrated into an M3V2 On-wall speaker. Both measurements were done with the same mic position 12" away slightly below the tweeter axis. Again as you can see, they produce a different response.

I measured both tweeters on the ground. I didn't bother to test power since my initial purpose was to validate the claim if the tweeters were identical. Clearly they have different voice coils. Down the road I can always build a baffle and do more tests but I think this is sufficient to show...

Dayton vs Axiom Driver Thought I'd make a correction in this thread as it was mentioned that the Axiom and Dayton drivers were one in the same. I was able to get a sample of the Dayton driver and compare it to my Axiom V2 driver found in my M3v2s I have on hand. These drivers are NOT...

Impressions of the EMP Impressions Tower Speakers

There is quite a substantial difference not just in output capabilities, but in dynamics and realism when you compare budget designs to cost no object products that are properly engineered. $1k/pr doesn't get you close to the law of diminishing returns.

Impressions of the EMP Impressions Tower Speakers

You have to be very careful with using multiple tweeters to avoid acoustical interference issues. I agree with you the EMP's could use a tad more energy in the top end. This can be accomplished by using a tweeter with higher sensitivity and power handling. That is a much better approach than...

Can I go wrong with Axiom Audio M22'S

A WTW design when properly executed is still a viable design and in some aspects has advantages over W(T/M)W designs. An MTM has significantly less off-axis lobing errors than a TWWWT design which isn't used by any other commercial manufacturer that I am aware of other than Axiom. However if...
