No. Possibly to some extent with the DSP processing in Atmos itself but I see nothing that indicates the sort. Being able to angle the driver to a specific location on the ceiling would be a benefit that nobody is currently exploring. Stay tuned for my article.

I agree. I don't see an angle in the towers or bookshelf. If there is an angle, it's very slight at best and certainly won't beam as drastically off axis like the diagrams suggest.

No it's likely to reduce the omnidirectional properties of the woofer which in this case is up to 400Hz or so. Less than ideal for sure.

It's a true tragedy when people are willing to sacrifice a quality 5.1 speaker layout in favor of a mediocre 7/9/11.1 layout. If you've got solid, high dynamic fronts, the soundstage they will throw off will usually trump any magic "Atmos ready" speaker firing a little driver up at the ceiling...

Yea but we have to watch what we say. A lot of audio folks and especially manufacturers don't have much of a sense of humor. This industry can't handle much parody let alone criticism.
