    Sunfire HRS-12 Powered Subwoofer Review

that was a pretty mediocre product when it came out and Sunfire took our comments constructively and have since then improved it. Most legitimate manufacturers recognize we say it like it is whether a product performs well or not.

Anyone read any Denon AVP-A1HDCI reviews yet?

Actually I got the first Denon separates review samples in the country in my test lab now :D Problem is I am vacationing in Colombia right now so my testing will have to wait until I return in April :( Thus you could say I am single handedly holding up the review process of these...

    Marantz SR7002 Receiver Review

The Z-11 I blew up was a prototype unit. I was the first in the country to get my hands on one for review. They shipped me a production unit afterwards and it worked just fine. As for shear power between the Onkyo 805/875 vs the Marantz SR7002, there is no doubt in my mind the Onkyo is more...

    XPA-5 Review

sorry guys but I just got the Denon separates in and have limited time to review them before I have to send them back so the Emo amp will have to be second in line. I should have the Emo review done in May provided I get the sample sometime in early April.

APC AV C10 Home Theater Power Filter Review

No you really need a product with line regulation like an H10 or H15. If you experience alot of brown outs, then I suggest an S15 with battery backup. I lose power momentarily almost daily and I have S15s and S20s running my entire home theater interruption free!

Pioneer VSX-94TXH or Denon AVR-4308CI Receiver?

HT Mag doesn't look at things like: output impedance, FFT distortion analysis, SNR, etc. But its good to collect test data on products being reviewed from multiple sources to get a clearer picture of product performance.

Pioneer VSX-94TXH or Denon AVR-4308CI Receiver?

So far Yamaha and Denon receivers do the best on my test bench in terms of distortion, SNR, output impedance, etc. I tested 2 Pioneers so far (including the model# in this thread) and the results were less than stellar in comparison. I have a Marantz SR7002 here which I will test this week...

Pioneer VSX-94TXH or Denon AVR-4308CI Receiver?

Based on my recent bench testing of the Pioneer and my past experience with Denon receivers, I'd recommend the Denon if your looking for a cleaner amp section. Our review of the Pioneer will come soon...

    New Projector Toasted my Receiver

Well seeing how I rarely purchase the products I review, I have 2 more receivers on the test bed that I can test your theory out on. But I will measure them before I risk blowing out their video ports :) Manufacturers understand that stuff happens and to date I've only fried one product in my...

Madonna in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. Its more a popularity contest than it is about the music. The judges also seem to have a heavy bias against progressive rock bands which is why legendary bands like: Genesis, Yes, ELP and King Crimson will never be included.

    New Projector Toasted my Receiver

At this point I can't fault either company 100% and of course both claim the other is at fault :D I think its 50/50 so far. Up until now my 5805 worked flawlessly and I've had it for over 3 years. Epson claims this is an issue with older Denon receivers but Denon claims the've never heard of...

Want but can't get Yamaha 663 for free

Heck if I could get myself a 663 with 3 HDMI cables for that price, I'd buy it too :) Haggling our store admins to the point where there are no margins left is not something they can always offer. I suggest you purchase elswhere if you can get that good of a deal.

    Yamaha RX-V990

For under $1k the Yamaha RX-V863 is the hot ticket: See: http://store.audioholics.com/product/1760/0/yamaha-rx-v863-7-2-channel-digital-home-theater-receiver for around the $1500 mark, I'd recommend a Yamaha RX-V3800, Denon AVR-3808CI or Onkyo TX-SR875.

MTM horizontal center channel speaker vs vertical TM center channel speaker

The lobing issues of MTM horizontally mounted speakers is a bit overblown. Consider that in most home theaters, the listeners aren't sitting more than 20-30 deg off axis from the center chanel, its unlikely that lobing will present itself into real world listening tests if the center channel is...

    Yamaha RX-V990

The RX-V990 has a great amp section but is an extremely old A/V receiver and doesn't even had DD/DTS decoders built in. Assuming you are using it for HT, DON'T buy a new power amp. Instead pick up a new A/V receiver such as the Yamaha RX-V663/3800 or Denon AVR-2808CI or higher. Later if you...

    Yamaha RX-Z11 HDMI 1.3a 11.2 Channel A/V Receiver Review

Its just a guideline not a requirement. 500ft^2 is roughly a 25' x 20' room. I am sure you can get by in a room that is less wide, but you really need a long room with high ceilings to cram all 11 speakers in and achieve an actual benefit of doing so.
