Just mute the extremely cheesy scene when Spock yells "Khan". I cringed at that part in the movie theater ;)

How close is the EMP E5Bi to the RBH SX61, technically?

They are confusing with all of the different distribution channels. <!--[if gte mso 9]><![endif]--> Of course RBH could be considered the parent brand, but they are all DBA's of the West American Corporation which is solely owned by Roger B. Hassing. <!--[if gte mso 9]><![endif]--><!--[if...

Miles Davis: Kind of Blue CD Review (1997 Reissue)

Agreed. I have the 180G vinyl and it's like butter! Gotta be in the mood for it though as I find the first side much more engaging than the second.

What Cable Gauge Do I Need for my Speakers?

Yes and the article I wrote about this clearly shows that: Speaker Cable Gauge (AWG) Guidelines & Recommendations | Audioholics High resistance has a much more profound effect on performance than capacitance or inductance for speaker cables, especially when dealing with low impedance speakers.

How close is the EMP E5Bi to the RBH SX61, technically?

That is VERY true actually. The EMP E41 uses RBH parts and is a steal of a deal. RBH stopped making that model for RBH and simply rebranded it for EMP. Correction: The RBH version uses a Vifa tweeter and the EMP version uses a different brand tweeter with similar specs. Sorry for the confusion.

How close is the EMP E5Bi to the RBH SX61, technically?

The only similarities between the 2 speakers is that they ship from the same location. That's it! Completely different drivers, different parts, different cabinets, different construction, etc. Not comparable in performance. The RBH versions use real aluminum cone woofers. The EMP...

What Cable Gauge Do I Need for my Speakers?

Cable resistance is the single most important metric with speaker cables at audio frequencies. Everything else is secondary.

Best Bookshelf Speakers Under $2000? Again...

You should seriously consider the following alternatives as they've been among the best sounding bookshelf speakers I've heard: RBH 61-SE/R or SX-61/R Monitor Audio PL100 Salk Silk (or whatever the model# was at our 2012 GTG event - Audioholics 2012 GTG Show Report | Audioholics )

Help on building a subwoofer like the RBH 1010 SEP

Umm, I don't sell gear nor have I never sold gear. For a brief time we licensed our name for an estore but even then, that store didn't sell RBH gear. The Audioholics E-Store is now bad robot.com! | Audioholics That being said, you'd ideally want to wire the drivers in parallel and pick an...

Parasound Halo P 5 Stereo Preamplifier Preview

Yes the Pass Labs amp IMO didn't measure to stellar but it sounds awesome. One day I need to sit down and do more multi-tone testing to see if the lower feedback approach really does have merit to the types of distortion we prefer. My brother bought over a few guitar amps that all measured...

A few vocal so called "objectivists" forum regulars on this site do NOT reflect the opinion of the masses and certainly NOT the opinions of the site operatives, especially myself. I agree with most of what you've read. The cool thing about doing a balanced power amplifier stage is that you essentially double your rail voltage as you can read in my XPR-1 review: Emotiva XPR-1 Mono Amplifier Review | Audioholics If I were building my own high performance audio amplifier...

There will ALWAYS be a measurable difference between single ended and differential designs, especially for low line level signaling. This assumes the test gear you measure with is good enough to measure the difference. BTW, the Audio Precision APX-585 and all of their test gear uses fully...

Parasound Halo P 5 Stereo Preamplifier Preview

Comparing two identical circuits, one being single ended, one being fully differential, it's very easy to measure a difference in noise and distortion. It's a very trivial matter actually. Audibility is another story however. I recommend reading this article I wrote many years ago...
