    The Dumbing Down of Audio

The point of my article is many peoples only exposure to audio is portable compression devices such as MP3 or XM. These devices are fine for convenience but shouldn't be peoples only exposure to quality sound.

Wire Management - Do it Like an Audioholics Pro

You got that right. I messed up when I ordered my cables from Bluejeans and overcalculated their lengths so I could have plenty of slack when the rack pulls out. I was too lazy to send it all back and reorder so I used it as is. Also I wasn't aware until last EHX that Middle Atlantic...

    Stopped by RBH headquarters. WOW

It is impractical for me to A/B them directly, especially since my reference theater is on the second floor. Lugging this T2pSE system upstairs was quite a chore, especially since the cabinet is all one piece now. I am intimately familiar with the original T-2P system since it served as my...

Well now you let the cat out of the bag. I am in the process of reviewing these and all I can say is "WOW"! Thanks for the feedback.

Which is better? 1 sub or 2 subs?

4 subs is best in rectangular shaped rooms. 2 works almost as good, especially if you EQ them properly.

    THE ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN FALLACY

Oh Boy. The power supply in the amp steps up the amps rail voltages high enough to achieve the power into the loads you are specifying.

Which is better? 1 sub or 2 subs?

Most people are better off with headphones and forgetting about setting up a multi channel speaker system with bass managed subwoofers :D

I am not concerned about achieving up to 20kHz response as much as issues of beaming and off axis performance.

Which is better? 1 sub or 2 subs?

There is far more than "some" proof. The average user doesn't even setup 1 sub correctly. But most folks on these boards go beyond the "average" user. Thus if you wish to have beyond "average" performance, then using multiple subs is the way to go. It doesn't cost a fortune either...

Which is better? 1 sub or 2 subs?

Yes the truth is often broad especially when its backed by math, and modal analysis in small rooms not only by us but from the likes of Dr. Toole of Harman, HAA, THX and most professional installers  Not really but its usually a good idea to choose 2 subs with similar output...

    RBH signature review part 1

Freeflap; Some comments for you: Great review. Thanks for your attention to detail. I love the excuse of inwalls costing more money :) Do NOT disable the 12" woofers of the 1266's. The top end of the speaker is crossed over above 100Hz. The side woofer is essential. It sounds to me...

    Roger Russell's new loudspeakers

I am very skeptical about this design as well. Boosting driver response to compensate for design inefficiencies is not a good thing to do IMO. I also never heard a mid woofer that can play highs as well as a dedicated dome tweeter. I won't even touch the bass issue with these 3" drivers :D...

Which is better? 1 sub or 2 subs?

2 subs are ALWAYS better than one sub, especially in small rooms. It's not about the added SPL as much as it is about superior modal control to achieve smoother bass response in a wider listening area. If budget is a concern go with the lower model and get 2 instead of one higher model unit...

    THE ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN FALLACY

I read parts of the article and I am confused. How does an amplifiers specification on WPC relate back to the actual load on the 120VAC branch circuit. Yes your calculations are correct though you can expect between 45% to 50% efficiency figures at max power. Amps and power supplies get...

    THE ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN FALLACY

Why do you need to run an amp at 1 ohm? There should be little reason for a loudspeakers impedance to dip much below 3 ohms if the crossover is properly designed. 15A is on the primary 120V side. You can of course achieve higher current on the secondary side once the transformer steps the...
