    not impressed, what next

Before changing out gear again, perhaps you should address your room acoustics and speaker placement. These are often the most overlooked and most direct reason why people are unsatisfied with the fidelity of their systems.

JL Audio Fathom f112 Subwoofer Review

David's review and forum response has inspired me to request a review sample of their Gotham sub. Problem is I loath carrying a 300lbs sub up two flights of steps to my theater room, and knowing me, I'd want at least two of them :D

JL Audio Fathom f112 Subwoofer Review

All; Please adhere to our forum rules and keep this thread ON TOPIC to the review/product in question. There is much more to subwoofers than simply how low they will play. Anyone can make a sub play low at the expense of linearity and overall sound quality / slam.

RBH or Amway? How to get a good deal...another story from Tomorrow

I don't know what ADMIN told you this, but RBH's mark up is no different than 99% of the B&M type speaker companies in the business. In fact some of the much LARGER mainstream brands have an even higher markup than RBH.

Comparison results: Axiom 80 vs. Polk RTI12

In Polk's defense, we have casually requested review samples from Polk in the past at trade shows and via emails, but never heard back. Sometimes its hard to find the right contact person at some of the larger companies like Polk, but we will keep trying. Many of them still have their heads...

Comparison results: Axiom 80 vs. Polk RTI12

Axiom speakers aren't for everyone.... nor are Polk, Paradigm, Infinity, B&W, RBH, etc. Thankfully there is a variety of quality brands out there for people to take their pick based on their listening preferences.

    Bi-Wiring From Amplifier To Loudspeaker

I think 40AWG is an ultra extreme case. The wire would likely melt before you put any appreciable power through it. You can however likely hear sonic differences of say 26AWG wire compared to 10AWG wire for long runs. Most notably would be in bass as the wire with higher resistance may...

Roger Powell Interview on Fossil Poets

Roger Powell - Interview on Fossil Poets I was recently introduced to the music of Roger Powell. Much to my surprise, Roger has been on the music scene since the late 60s where he began his career as a recording engineer in Atlanta Georgia. If you didn’t know the name Roger Powell till now...

    Audyssey MultEQ XT Pro ??

James; I am holding off on doing a review of the 5805CI as its too labor intensive for me to tear my 5805 out of my rack, especially since their Separates solution is coming this summer that uses Audyssey Pro. I will of course be doing a detailed test on this system once I get it. As...

    Genesis Reunion

I hear you man. I'd love to see them live and then also have the HD DVD (if they release it). The sound will likely be better at home but the feeling at the show of course cannot be replicated. Although I've been to a few concerts lately that were disappointing live but better on DVD...

    Why Bi-wiring Makes No Sense.

BTW John; It was not my intent to offend you by having Jim author an article about the topic on this thread. I want to get to the bottom of the truth about this topic just like everyone else does. After re-reading your PM, I apologize if using your quotes in this article has caused you...

    Yamaha RX-V2700 Receiver Reviewed!

The switch is there so the receiver CLIPS sooner for the UL test at a lower power level, thus generating less heat. IT DOES NOT protect the receiver any better than if its set for 8 ohms. In fact it potentially can damage your speakers since the amp will CLIP more readily. The receiver...

    Why Bi-wiring Makes No Sense.

Jim Lesurf was kind enough to write an article dispelling some of the fallacies posted in this thread. I hope this article puts this issue to bed and we can move on to real topics in audio that affects system performance. http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/~www_pa/Scots_Guide/audio/biwire2/page1.html
