Actually I believe Porcupine Tree's biggest influence was King Crimson, Pink Floyd and to some extent Rush. I'd classify all of these bands as Progressive Rock though Porcupine Tree has a touch of metal thrown in. Great points regarding the rest of your post however.

Why should I? I've never reviewed a pair of speakers that wouldn't accept banana plugs. These accept them if you can remove the pegs. All of my premium cables I use are terminated with bananas.

Actually Pandora played thru a good DAC is pretty darn good quality, especially if you pay the annual fee for the higher data rate.
