Why do people hate Axiom Audio?

When you build a lot of margin into your products, it's easy to offer such options to unsatisfied customers. A center channel should sound good on and off axis. It's impossible for a speaker with tweeters on opposite ends of the cabinet to sound good off axis based on very well understood laws...

Is it time to Ditch Vinyl?

In this editorial, Jerry Del Colliano talks about why he decided to sell his entire vinyl collection. There are Baby Boomer writers over at Stereophile and TAS pulling out their Jerry Del Colliano voodoo dolls as I type in preparation for this article being published. You see, the audiophile...

Why do people hate Axiom Audio?

Some of Dynaudio large tower designs have been silly. I recall hearing a pair of their towers were the tweeter was really low to the ground., I didn't know if I should bend over or sit on the floor to listen to them. What I heard at seated ear level wasn't SOTA in my experiences with that...

Why do people hate Axiom Audio?

Actually the science today is very grounded in predicting listening preferences based on how loudspeakers measure. All of this research is thanks to the guys at Harman (Dr. Floyd Toole, Dr. Sean Olive, etc). There is a very high correlation factor here that can't be ignored.

Why do people hate Axiom Audio?

Axiom are not white van speakers. They put considerable efforts into measuring and doing blind tests to make their products better. Their customer service is top notch as well. The issue some people have, myself included, is some of their design choices are rather unorthodox like the dual...

    Axiom M100 v4 Floor Standing

Axiom has made some good sounding products over the years and have good customer service. Some of their designs are a bit perplexing like the VP150 center channel with tweeters on opposite ends of the cabinet. I could never hear clear dialogue intelligibility from that center channel in installs...

    Axiom M100 v4 Floor Standing

Compartmentalizing a reasonably small cabinet like that would really be a waste of cabinet volume. I hope they didn't put each bass diver in it's own ported enclosure. I know they didn't do that on the M80s which have a good amount of bass output and extension though with some cabinet...

For the Love of Audio & Hi-Fi. Is it Dead?

Much of today’s equipment does not exhibit that same degree of flat-out romance and visceral appeal. Today’s equipment is so uniformly excellent that a lot of the mystique and “skill” of picking out one’s personal system is just not there anymore. We'll discuss how the romantic, emotional appeal...

    AV123 speakers

I never got in a review pair of AV123 speakers that measured the same. Always a crossover wiring issue that needed to be resolved before the review could take place. Tread carefully with that brand.

Are AV Tradeshows a Thing of the Past?

Even before the outbreak of a global, viral respiratory pandemic, your local stereo store was likely sick in its own right. In the heyday of the AV hobby, there were brick and mortar stores at the A-level, B-level and more obscure-brand-laden C-list retailers. In many major cities in the United...

Denon x4300H external amp hook up

You have to assign which channels get external amplification. First set the receiver for 11 speakers. Then go to the preout settings and it will dictate what speakers you need to assign for your 2CH power amp. Let me know if that makes sense.

    Denon, center spread

I thought I replied to this. Center Spread should only be used when upmixing 2CH music, NOT movies or TV shows. I've never heard a system where center spread sounded better off for 2CH music. It tends to dump too much into the center collapsing the Left/Right soundstage.
