    Rant: Canadian Prices on AVRs!

Honestly, I'm getting sick of this! I've been looking for almost 2 months now on any bargain I could find for a new or used receiver strong enough to power my Polks and additional speakers to be determined. The markup at stores are insane! It's very difficult to find a mid level 7.1 receiver...

Pioneer VSX-1015tx and Polk RTI 10's

I've spent weeks comparing the 8s vs 10s, and went with the 8s. If you plan on using your stuff for music mainly with no sub then the 10s are the clear choice, but if you're going to send the LFEs to a sub then I see no reason to spend the extra money on the 10s. I particularly like the mids on...

    Velodyne DPS-12 Review

I don't think volume is to big of an issue with either sub. I think that was one of the selling points behind these - loud!! I turned a HK 7300 to near reference levels at FutureShop and there was plenty of headroom left on the DPS-10. But I'm no expert so take that with a grain of salt. My...

    Neverending White Lights - WOW!!

Yea, The Grace is such a timeless piece of music. It sounds phenominal! That's what got me to pick up the disc.

    Neverending White Lights - WOW!!

What a fantastic group of musicians. I picked this disc up and I am blown away by the production, the quality of the music, etc... It features a lot of left<>right panning, which makes it ideal to use PLIIx on a 7.1 system. Mine isn't complete yet so I tried it on a friend's system and I...

Canadians, where to find 12 guage wire?

Thanks guys. I'll check Rona first, since there's one 5 min away.

    Harmon Kardon AVR335

I'm no expert but to start, would be to set all speakers to small and sub crossover to 80.

Canadians, where to find 12 guage wire?

I went to Futureshop and Best buy and all they carry is Monster. I was looking at Acoustic Research and there's only 16 guage. 40-50 feet would be ample.

    Canadians returning svs subs

He's banned. My guess is that he wanted a SVS sub so bad, but didn't want to pay the extra fees, and so anger leads to hate, hate leads to suff..... aw, you get the point. :D

    Velodyne DPS-12 Review

Yea, he knows a fair bit about subs. He's got a SVS cylinder sub along with full 7.1 Kef setup and Pioneer Elite 72TX. He was telling me to listen to separation and how clean the bass sounds. Thanks for taking the time to fill my curiosity. I appreciate it.

Pioneer 815 - stong enough to power Polk RTi8 speakers?

Bump. Gonna buy my receiver tomorrow along with a Velodyne DPS 10 sub and return the CSi3 center since I can't make up my mind on whether I will keep it when I buy a better receiver around summer. I can get them anytime. Hence, I will be running a 2.1 setup with my RTi8s and the Velodyne...

Victimized at Circuit City With Monster Cable Purchase?

You have a 30" tv, not going to notice a tremendous difference in picture quality with expensive cables. I've bought Monster Ultra Component and an Acoustic research Component (when I was an idiot last year) because the guy at Future Shop kept pushing the Ultra for my DVD player. Other was for...

    Velodyne DPS-12 Review

Slightly off topic, but as a Canadian, Sheep, you know fully well how difficult it is to find a entry sub that sounds good for the money. As I previously mentioned, I can get the DPS 10 for $300can + tax. Would you be able to recommend any other subs available in Canada that's a better deal...

    Velodyne DPS-12 Review

Excellent Review. I'm thinking of picking up the DPS 10 from Future Shop. I have a friend who works there and can get it to me for $300 + tax. It probably isn't quite as good as the 12 but my room isn't huge. I'd like your opinion on another test. Can you describe how the lightsaber hum...

Pioneer 815 - stong enough to power Polk RTi8 speakers?

Yup, precisely:eek: I'd love to get a 1015tx for what you Americans get - $250 or so. At Future Shop or Best Buy, the god damn thing is $699. It's actually cheaper for me to buy it from an online US store, have it shipped to a weed dealer, have him pack about $50 worth of weed in it, and ship...

Pioneer 815 - stong enough to power Polk RTi8 speakers?

Hmm, I'm still unclear on the matter. This is how loud I would be playing movies and music - not loud enough to be heard from 2nd floor bedrooms. I don't play loud at all. Does that still mean I will need more power than the 815? One thing I don't want to do is somehow damage my speakers...

Pioneer 815 - stong enough to power Polk RTi8 speakers?

Please don't take this the wrong way. I was being sarcastic. Perhaps I should have put one of these  :D to indicate my surprise. My budget is around 350canadian. How does power come into play? I'm not sure how it works. As I stated, I will not be turning the unit up to scare away...

Pioneer 815 - stong enough to power Polk RTi8 speakers?

Are you out of your mind? That thing is $699. If I had $700 to spare I would've gotten a Denon 3805 or something. I can get the HK 135 for $300can and the Pioneer 815K for $270 (plus tax). Remember, my receiver will be temporary as I put too much money into my car. I will be buying a 7.1...

Pioneer 815 - stong enough to power Polk RTi8 speakers?

I've spent a lot of money on my car recently and really need a budget receiver with powe to drive these speakers. My room is 12 feet by 16 feet. I don't plan on playing movies at reference level or anything. As long as it's smooth and clear at low levels. Just a 3.0 setup at the moment. I'll...
