    Biamping with Def Techs

Well good news, since your subs have their own built in power you are already technically biamping your speakers as they are. It would be silly to try and power them in any other way, in my opinion. If you want to play, learn all you can about room acoustics and do all you can to improve them...

    Biamping with Def Techs

You wouldn't be able to bi-amp your 7002s without some modification. The biamp process works by sending seperate power to the midrange/tweet and the subwoofwer independently. Don't these speakers have a built in 300watt amp drviing the sub as it is? If so why would you need/want to biamp?

    Denon DVD-3910 DVD Player Review

Sorry but what is IIRC? If this happens to be the case, then why not allow the user the option of an 80hz cutoff with no conversion rather than simply a direct mode only. To me it defeats the purpose of hi-res for most listeners. I suppose the best option then for BM is to use direct mode...

    Denon DVD-3910 DVD Player Review

Clint, Just curious if you would happen to know why it is neccessary for the DSD on SACD to be converted to PCM when engaging bass management? Does anyone know if this is also the case on the Pioneer DV-59avi as well? This is an extremely annoying problem for those of us who enjoy m/c...

    Planning speaker setup pre-furniture

Sorry to disagree JohnA, but with quadpolars this is the recommeded placement Quadpolar surrounds, similar to Bipoles, usually perform best when placed on sidewalls, but closer to the backwalls, for rear wall reflection of the side mounted tweeter. Their height should be about 4-6 feet above...

Boston Acoustics 7.1 Channel equipment....what do you think

They look intriguing, though both are only vaguely described on their website and the product manuals weren't available for download. At $1,999 MSRP they look to be only decent values.

See anything you like on this new Pioneer?

Weren't you the one that has been claiming that your extensive experiences with various brands held that the Pioneer Elite products were among the worst of the major brands in terms of reliability? I'm just shocked you'd even consider a Pioneer Elite product taking place of something so beloved...

Just purchased a Denon AVR-2805 - few moments of you time

Mixing hi-fi and HT isn't quite the "no-no" it used to be. The main difference summed down to one thought is that, your subwoofer will need to be more substantial for movies, and so you'll need a good one to do both well. There are other smaller issues like speaker placement etc., but for me...

    Amps on standby or off?

Nothing at all wrong with doing what you are doing other than using some electricity, so long as they have adequate air ventilation. In fact some amp manufacturers recommend you leaving their amps in standby, except for when you know you won't be using them for extended periods. Also keep in...

    Work in progress.....forever

You can go here to find out more about speaker placement. I don't agree 100% with everything written here, but it should be a good start and a big help to getting more from your system. Placement Guide

It Starts Now! The Zolasoid II Project

Maybe with subs it isnt a issue, but wouldn't there be some serious diffraction with this kind of recessed mounting?

    Work in progress.....forever

I've always heard nice things about psb speakers. I'm sure they sound as nice as they say. Just some thoughts while looking at your system which you might consider. Though you may not want to move your speakers about, I think you'd notice some improvements if you were to place your mains...

Which Sub to Get? HSU or SVS? Which Model?

Kept thinking of this while reading this post Seems many people get a little too wrapped up in the lower is better theory. Borrowing from and Outlaw Audio thread on the LFM-1 design principles with Dr. Hsu...I give you the following.... We decided on a 25 Hz design after lengthy discussions...

    Bass management w/ ilink? Help.

This question is for those of you who have a Pioneer or other ilink capable receiver and dvd-a /sacd player. Does this digital interface allow you the ability to use the full array of bass management features on your receiver? I'd like to know so I can decide whether or not it might be something...

SACD and two channel stero receiver with Dolby

The high resolution DSD tracks on SACD will sound better than regular CDs, all things being equal. Nearly all SACDs have a hi-res stereo track, and many also have a hi-res surround track. You won't be able to take advantage of a surround track because you would need 5.1 preamp level analog...

best way to do a cross talk test?

I was just curious if Gene or Clint, or anyone in the know could tell me what method works best for performing a quick cross talk isolation test on receivers. This is the method Ive been using. 1. Tune in a strong FM station. 2. Select an unused analog source and adjust the volume. 3. Listen...
