Yeah, I didn't like the gross scenes.
I get that many of these directors want to be "different". But most of the times, I think most of us don't care as much as about a movie being "different". Sure, you can make certain things different, which I think "Send Help" does a good job with. But Raimi just kept going with "different", instead of giving most of us what we truly wanted at the end of the day - most of us aren't psychos who want to kill people. If people die due to accidents or because of "variations" of self-defense, we can feel terrible about it, but at least we (or our protagonists) didn't want to kill them if we didn't have to. I don't mind seeing the protagonist kill the evil bad guys to stop them from killing other people - good riddance.
But I have limits - I don't like seeing evil people win in the end - regardless of how others treat them emotionally or economically. Being wrongly treated emotionally or financially is evil and deserves correction and compensation, but does not deserve death.
I think "Send Help" is overall a good movie. But it could have been the type of movies that I could watch a million times. But instead, I will most likely just watch it once.
