Doesn't really go low, but the silk dome tweeter as opposed to the coaxial driver of the previous one looks interesting.

80Hz - 20kHz

Is that the same speaker (the older model you mentioned) the same one Dennis did a reworked crossover for?

If it isn't up to snuff, I'm sure a little polyfill and DM magic could turn this right around.

Yea, this is the old one that Dennis, and Danny Ritchie and some others worked on
Insigniaâ„¢ - 6-1/2" Bass-Reflex Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) - NS-B2111 | Insignia

Treating the cabinet helped some, which I did - However, it really needed the crossover change

I have no doubt he's probably monitoring this thread very closely :p
I may go to Best Buy and look at them - I already have some polyfill,
Also, may need to go and buy some felt pads, to deaden the cabinet
some - however, that can be somewhat expensive.

They look Polk to me. If I'm not doing anything this weekend, I may drop by and check them out too.

I just bought them - Best Buy not good for audition > However, they have potential.
They lack a little in the bass - due to a higher sensitivity - and they have a little bit
of weight to them - not as cheap of a feel and look as one might think.

I still need to unpack them and open them up - then throw some music at them.

With the cheap audition at Best Buy - they sounded better than the Bose 201 and
the entry level Polk T15

Nice Z. Looks like a keeper then. You gonna open them up to see the insides? Can you take a couple of pics? Can't wait to hear your impressions once they open up.

Well shock me, they put some work in these speakers - remember, they do not have to pay
for general marketing.

They even come with rubber feet to attach to the bottoms, with an alignment tool.

No camera, however >
They have a second order 5 element crossover, with no baby (little) crossover parts.
Yes fuzz, they do have poly-batten inside lined to the back and sides of the speaker,
above the bottom port.

They for sure beat the older Insignia speakers.

Just started to listen to them - Polk and Bose can move aside again

They do not have the bass of the Pioneer - however, Pioneer will not walk over them
They did sacrifice some bass, so they could play loud in the store and at home.

The build quality is as good as the Pioneer

Also no little magnets on the tweeter or woofer - singing voices are good, instruments
are clear - and no muddy sound - still early, tweeter seems to be nice.
