Specification of my subwhooper (which came with Samsung HT Z310. isimpedence 3 ohms, frequency range45hz-160Hz,out put sound pressure level 86db/W/M,rated input 170W,maximum input340W. Whether same whooper can converted to power subwhooper compatible to Yamaha Rx v375 by adding any circuit/ amplifier so that present whooper can be used and also money can be saved.I think Samsung subwhooper with oabove mentioned specification will not compromise quality also . If I am not wrong Yamaha RxV 375 has specification n of 100 watts....kanchan
Let's be serious - The subwoofer with your cheap home theater in a box setup is garbage. It's junk. Just like the speakers are junk. But, the rest of the speakers should continue to work with the new A/V receiver, while the subwoofer will not unless you go buy an external amplifier to run it. While, this sounds good in theory, you will now have to go find and price out an external amplifier that will work. This isn't actually inexpensive to do...

A 50 watt+ amplifier will run $70 or more for a stand alone piece (vs. the complete unit costing a bit more in my link above).
Then, you get it, and it's still connected to a speaker that was built to hit the lowest possible price point available, which means thin plastic and a cheap speaker without proper bracing or much else proper about it. So, it's spending GOOD money on a very bad product to act as a band aid.
What would I recommend if you don't want to buy a subwoofer now but really want to use what you have?
I may recommend that you try running the current subwoofer in series with the center channel and tell your Yamaha system that you have no subwoofer... Perhaps that'll give you a bit better bass response. Wire the center speaker this way, and you should be okay.
But, at some point, you will want to start to upgrade all the speakers, including the subwoofer, and spending one cent on product you know is horrendous is not at all something I would recommend or encourage - and as you can tell, I will strongly discourage.
