Having some buyers remorse. Don't know what to do

Out of curiosity I took a little bit of a closer look at paradigm's in wall offerings. I'm assuming that the AMS line is voiced to match (an assumption you might want to double check with a paradigm seller), and if that's true the AMS-500 may be a better choice for L/R. It has the same MSRP and is speced down to 60 hz vs the LCR which is only speced down to 105 hz. Asking the sub to play up to 105 hz is not the best idea.

Keep in mind though that there is far more to a speaker than its specs, but that 105 is rather bothersome to me.

Thanks. I am assuming you are talking about the AMS-350 right for the L/R. I will go with that and probably the AMS-LCR for the center?

Still need to figure out if I should go with in ceiling or in wall for my rears.

If I read correctly he was going with in walls on everything but the center and sub.....that is not easy to trail...
They don't need to be installed in the wall to get a good idea of how they sound. Maybe not entirely bass wise, but the general tone will be more or less the same in wall or out.

For a center, you can simply get a third of the same speaker as the L/R.

Why yes, I do mean the AMS-350.

For your room arrangement I'm tempted to say in-ceiling, but I'm far from an expert on architectural speakers.

I see. I just noticed that my wall studs are 1 foot apart. I dont think I can fit the in wall Paradigm speakers (AMS-350 or AMS LCR) for the center speaker unless I have them built into part of the stud also.

I will be starting a build thread soon.

Make sure whatever in-wall/ceiling speakers you get are closed back and not open back. You don't have to use a horizontally installed center speaker if you don't want to. I have the same speakers for my front three and it sounds great. If you are able I'd get three matching speakers for the front.

That is good to know. I always though the speaker would not yield a characteristic sound until it was "enclosed"

This hobby is a luxury if you have buyers remorse because you really can't afford a system right now then you need to return it and get your finances in order. You can get very good used gear if you are enterprising enough for a lot less money.

I love audio and honestly it's normally a lot better purchase than most of the useless junk we buy, but still it's a luxury.

UPDATE:
Went to my local paradigm dealer. Purchased the reference line speakers. I got SA-35 for my front and SA-30 in wall for my rears. And also got paradigm millennium 30 for center speakers. Came out to $4000 OTD. Also picked up the SVS PB1000. Now I am thinking if I went overboard with my setup. Lol.

Just curious, do anyone ever ask for some discount for purchasing speakers from a B&M? I mean, when people buy cars everyone bargains, why not for speakers, right?

I think you are getting confused. I never said I am having buyers remorse because of financial issue. I was having buyers remorse because I didn't think Martin Logan was that great.

A little too late for that now wouldn't you say since you already "purchased" them? The best you can do now is beg for a discount. You negotiate a price before , not after. Realistically you should have decided what models you wanted and then shopped around for the best price at both B&M shops and the internet.

I sure as hell do. Especially if I'm buying a lot of gear. All they can do is say "no" right?

I get that from my dad. I still remember him negotiating a discount on my braces with my orthodontist when I was a kid. :D

I went and bought a generator for my sister {well she paid for it I just picked the model, did the bargaining and installed it} last week, the machine was $4500 marked with red marker on the tag, I asked "whats the best you can do on this one?" he said "this is it, thats marked down already" I said "oh, well thanks for your time, I'm going to shop around", I started walking towards the door looking at other models on the way out, he almost let me leave, but couldn't resist, I heard "hey let me ask my manager there is any room on that one"- long story short- Its on amazon for $4497 shipped with no tax, I got them down to $3780 delivered after tax, then I said "if you throw in a set of tiedowns I will throw it on my truck rite now and save you from delivering it 40 miles away", so I got a free $40 set of tiedowns too and left with it rite then...

Always ask, I know our local "audiophile" shoppe gives away $100 and $200 visa gift cards like they are candy, not sure if they get them at a discount or what but If you are on the fence about a purchase they throw them things at you... I know when I price a job some times people will call and ask if I can do any better, I always first say "well I can use less expensive equipment, but your service life, comfort level, and energy efficiency will suffer so let me call you back and see if I can sharpen my pencil a little" 15 minutes later I will call back and say " ok 2 options, I can upgrade you to a fancier circulator, or control, or insulate your return duct work {depending on the type of job, I always come up with a little extra to throw in} or I can knock of x amount of dollars {usually 3-5%}, but I make sure the little extra I was going to do is worth more than the knock off price.... 90% of the time they take the insulated duct work or digital thermostats, or what ever I talked them into, sometimes the take the discount, but sadly the customers that don't ask, don't get...

As for the OPs system, did you listen around? I am not a huge paradigm fan, they are great but there is stuff out there for a lot less that is IMO nicer, Im sure you will love this system over the ML's but it seems like you went from one impulse buy to a more expensive one of the same caliber... Isiberian is rite this is a luxury and if you are already having second thoughts maybe start over, and take a week to do a little more research. I tried a lot of speakers for my HT, looks meant nothing to me just bang for the buck was important, and I have never had a second thought since, because I had 6 sets of speakers in my room plugging and placing them for almost a month before I pulled the trigger... I started as a newb in HT because it doesn't really interest me, I am more a 2 ch music guy, but wanted something nice in my living room, so I tested, and tried, and asked, and went around the world for a while looking for what would be perfect... Money was no object BUT if i could buy a set of speakers and a sub for $1000 that fit the bill than I would have, I found that to get a better sound than the package I ended up with would have cost me a lot more money so I went with it... Did you try PSB, I like their sound better than paradigm and they cost much less..

It's OK. I was just curious. No worries. It's not something I will lose sleep over.

I have listened to the Paradigm in walls before I purchased them. I am done shopping. My walls will be cut the exact dimensions of the in-walls tomorrow of my Paradigm so I won't be able to change for a long, long time. I know I can get a better bang for the buck going with non-in-wall speakers. But I decided to go with in-wall speakers for a cleaner look and for space saver and Paradigm is one of the best in the business with in-walls. I was having a tough decision between the Triads and the Paradigm but decided to go with the Paradigms.

I listened to ML, Sonos, PSB, Paradigm, Triads, and Klipsch and decided that the Paradigm and Triads sounded the best. IMO, of course.
